I was starting to get tired since I had been walking for so long(exactly 1 hour), until I reached the other side of the large city in which I resided. I walked for a little while longer, I wish I could have sropped by my aunts but she was visiting her husbands family and wouldn't be back for a while. As I continued walking I didn't notice the rumbling of the ground or the people clearing the path until someone pulled me out of the way.
"Watch out dumbass! Can't you see the General of the new army heading for us!" They scolded before disappearing into the crowd.
New Army? General?
Everybody went silent except for a few murmurs here and there. The men on horse back stopped in the middle of the crowd and one of the men came up next to who I could only assume was the general.
"As order of the emperor an army for every large city is being formed, therefore we are in of 15 brave volunteers to join the army," The announcement rang through the air and even more murmurs started up.
The army? I thought. Well maybe that's not the worst idea, dad did say to make him proud, and if I join the army and become stronger he'll definitely be proud.
It was decided I would join the army. I waited until the crowd had dispersed and the army men had left. They had left a man to talk to if you wanted to join. After I saw a few people go up I nervously walked up to him.
"Here to join?" He asked seeming quite tired, he had eye bags and his shaggy black hair looked unkempt and covered his eyes
"Uh y-yes," I said quietly.
"Name."
"Q-Qu Qian"
"Come back here midday tomorrow" He instructed and turned away.
I nodded and quickly walked away feeling awkward. I stopped once I reached a small grove of flowering trees not to far away, I sat down under a tree with my back against the trunk and sighed softly assessing my situation. My parents kicked me out, I'm two incense time from home in a part of town I don't know and just joined the army with no experience at all. I definitely have my shit together, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. After sitting for a little while the sun began setting and I propped my bag against the tree and stared up at the darkening sky,falling into fitful sleep once the moon had almost fully risen.
