What Happens Next

Long talk

After walking for what felt like 15 minutes I come across a river. This is probably where they bathe and wash things. It beautiful the way the moon shimmers making the water look like a thousand stars.

I pick a tree and slowly lowered myself to the ground and leaned against it. I look out across the river and smile. There is a whole bunch more land out there that I will never see. Maybe in my next life I will be able to.

I sat there for about 5 minutes before I heard a branch snap. I look around and quickly stood up. "Hello? Anyone out there?" I asked cautiously.

There was a branch that snapped again behind me causing me to quickly turn around. I couldn't see anything, as the forest was denser no moon light was able to pass making it pitch black.

One more branch snapped to my left causing me too turn once again. I sighed once I saw the figure. "Rebekah. You scared me, I didn't know I was followed."

She smiled as she walked over, "well my brother thought it would be a good idea for us girls to talk, you seem to have a lot on your mind."

I have a small laugh as I sat back down against the tree with a nod. "I do, it's like my thoughts never rest."

Rebekah takes a seat next to me. "We first I would like to say I understand how you feel, it's never easy getting married so young."

Before she could continue I cut her off as I shook my head "no you don't. You don't understand, your not married. So you don't know what it's like. You haven't heard how terrible the wedding night can be, especially for the lady. The women in my village didn't hold back on the details when they were giving me tips."

I sat up straighter and turn to look at her. "Did you know that there will be people watching it happen?!? My guess it will be Your mother and father, my mother and father, and your brothers Finn and Niklaus as there are the older siblings... they have to watch! I didn't even know about this until we were about to leave. Imagine being excited for many moons to meet your husband only to find out that you will be married in a few moons and that people will watch!" I was seething. I wanted to throw something or punch something.

I could hear Rebekah sigh. I knew she thought I was crazy, I mean who wouldn't. Almost everyone know about the ceremony. The only thing my parents did was leave it out and I had to find out about it from other people.

"Kara I know this is hard for you. I could imagine doing this at 11 years of age but one thing I can assure you of right now is that Elijah is gentle, he doesn't hurt ladies. He won't force you to do anything you didn't want to do. He isn't like that." Rebekah spoke with desperation in her voice.

I laugh as I stood up. I looked right in her face. "Well did you know if I try to stop it or fight back, the watchers can hold me down to make sure our marriage is sealed in stone?! Did you know that?!" I yell as I felt tears start to fall from my eyes. "I may seem like a happy, wonderful lady but inside I hate  what I'm being forced to do, and to add on it that when I first bleed, we are expected to have a child within the first year. Don't get me wrong I want a child more then anything, it will give me purpose, but I don't want to be forced into it." I can't take this anymore. He thinks he's being sneaky. Well he can't fool me.

I turn around and stare off into the dark woods. "Well at least you know how I feel about our marriage Elijah. You can stop hiding behind that tree and come out..."

Not even 4 seconds later, Elijah steps into the moonlight. He has an unreadable expression on his face.

I look at Rebekah and then back to Elijah as I wipe my tears and out on a fake smile. "Let's get back shall we, we have dinner to attend to. First time as a family. Isn't that exciting!" I turn my back and head back the way I came before any of them could respond.
