Astrid entered with Pauline the hospital.
"How can I help you?" A lady on the reception asked.
"Can you tell me the number of the room where Hiccup Haddock is?" Astrid asked.
"Are you related to him?"
"Well, um, I'm his girlfriend, and this is his daughter." She pointed at Pauline.
"Names?"
"Astrid Hofferson and Pauline Haddock."
"Okay, then. He's in room 173. He's still unconscious."
"Okay. Thank you."

Astrid and Pauline entered Hiccup's room. He was still unconscious.
"Dad..." Pauline started crying. She hugged her Mom.
"Dad's gonna be fine. He's strong. He's gonna make it." Astrid said, sobbing herself.

"Oh, hello. You must be Miss Hofferson. We talked a few days ago. I'm Doctor Miller. I take care of Mr Haddock. So, do you have any questions?" Astrid shook his hand.
"Is Dad going to be alright?" Pauline asked before her Mom could even say something.
"Of course, little one. Your Dad is going to be alright." Dr Miller smiled at the girl.
"Pauline, honey, can you please go to the waiting room? I need to talk to Dr Miller."
"Sure, Mom." She said and went away.

"Is he only unconscious, or did something else happen to him?" Astrid asked worriedly.
"Well, you have to know, Miss Hofferson, we do everything we can, but Mr Haddock had lost his left leg. It had to be amputated. I'm sorry." Tears tumbled down her cheeks, and she nodded.
"I'll bring your daughter in and leave you alone." Doctor Miller said, walking towards the door and the waiting room.

For a moment, Astrid was alone with an unconscious Hiccup.
"Oh, Hiccup. Iˋm so sorry. I wished I could help you somehow." She sobbed and kissed his forhead.
"Please, Hiccup. Your father needs you. Pauline needs you. I need you..." She hugged him and burried her head in his belly.

"Mom?" Pauline came up to her Mom. Astrid hugged her daughter.
"Is Dad going to be okay?"
"Of course, sweetie. Dad is going to be alright."

*three weeks later*

Astrid was in the hospital again, like every single day. She was crying, burring her head into his belly again.
"Oh, Hiccup." But while she was crying, she suddenly felt a hand in her hair. Immediately, her head raised up. She was looking at a slightly smiling Hiccup.
"Hey..." He reached out for her.
"Hey." She still had tears in her eyes.
