Standing Mew's kitchen, preparing meals for several days, Mew was sitting on the couch, absorbed in what was on TV. I approached him and brought him a bowl of soup, taking care not to spill any as I navigated the room. Sitting down beside him, I handed him the spoon, blowing gently on the hot liquid before bringing it to his lips.

"Mew, why did you drink and drive that night?" The words came out before I could stop them.

Mew's response came after a few moments of contemplative silence, during which he seemed to avoid meeting my gaze. His voice was tinged with a hint of defensiveness as he spoke, as if he were reluctant to admit his actions. "I don't want you to think it's because of you," he began, his words slow and measured. "I just wanted to escape for one evening, and I completely lost control of the wheel."

"I don't want you to blame yourself for any of this, Charlotte," he said, his eyes finally meeting mine. "It was my choice, my mistake. Please don't carry that burden on your shoulders."

I took a deep breath, my gaze meeting Mew's with sincerity. "Please, promise me you'll be more careful next time," I implored, my voice tinged with genuine concern. " I was so scared."

Mew's hand enveloped mine, a silent reassurance amidst the weight of his words. "I promise," he affirmed, his voice carrying a mixture of sincerity and remorse. "And I'm sorry for making you worry."

"Let's not dwell on it," I said to Mew, forcing a smile to reassure him, "We should get some fresh air." With a tender gesture, I helped Mew into his jacket, making sure he was comfortably settled before we ventured out of the apartment.

As Mew's wheelchair glided along the winding paths of Central Park, I walked behind him, gently guiding him through the lush greenery. Several days had passed since Mew's discharge from the hospital, and I had been tending to him diligently during his recovery.

While I devoted much of my time to his care, I couldn't help but notice the growing distance between Engfa and me. Despite this, Engfa remained a pillar of support, always there to lend a helping hand, whether it was preparing meals or maintaining our apartment. I felt a deep sense of gratitude towards her for her support and understanding,

Mew and I came to a halt, taking in the breathtaking beauty of Central Park. The autumn hues painted the landscape with shades of orange and brown, creating a picturesque scene. I knelt down beside Mew and gently reminded him that it was time for his medication. He made a face in response, but obediently took a sip of water as I administered the medicine.

Kneeling down beside hum, I took a moment to offer him a biscuit, watching as he savored the taste. I noticed his gaze fixed on me, a small smile playing on his lips. Before I could react, he reached out and gently cupped my cheek then pulling me into a warm embrace. Confusion washed over me.

Just as I was about to pull away from Mew's arms, I heard my name being called. Immediately recognizing Engfa's voice, I turned to see her approaching us. Mew and I exchanged a quick glance before turning our attention back to Engfa's approach.

But Engfa turned directly to leave, and I stood up, a sense of urgency urging me to stop her before she disappeared. Before I could utter a word, Engfa had already started to move away, her pace quickening with every step. Determined not to let her escape, I rushed after her, my heart racing, but Mew's firm grip on my arm stopped me dead in my tracks.

"Let her go Charlotte, " Mew urged gently, releasing his hold on me.

Furrowing my brows, I gently shook off Mew's grip. "I have to go after her," I insisted, my voice tinged with urgency.

Reluctantly, Mew released his hold on my arm, allowing me to pursue Engfa. As I hurried after her, I called out her name, my footsteps echoing against the pavement.
