23 | PEARL THIEF: Only A Human

Flashback, Miyeon's backstory ….

Inside the car with prince Taecyeon, Miyeon is quietly sitting as they wait for Sana who went to the restroom. They went to a funeral to visit a politician who passed away that their family was close friends with. A little later, Sana came back and the car left the funeral hall

“You can't keep on running away from your butler, Sana” Taecyeon said

“Sorry, dad.. but I was so bored. I don't even know the guy that died” Sana said

Miyeon then noticed that her matching bracelet with her unnie is not wore by her

“Unnie, where's our matching bracelets? Why aren't you wearing it?” Miyeon pointed out Sana’s wrist

“Ohh that? I gave it out to a kid earlier”

“What?! But that's our bracelet! How could you give it to a stranger?!” Miyeon said in surprise

“Chill out, mimi. I can just make another one the same like ours, we can be twinning again” Sana chuckles

However, Making another same replica of the bracelet slipped out of Sana’s mind and she never got make another one ever again

As Miyeon is the middle child of prince Taecyeon and Kim Yoomi, you could say growing up wasn't that great. Being the ‘odd one’, always the one to be blamed at any circumstances. Prince Taecyeon had always paid his full attention and love to her Sana-unnie and nothing was left to her. It always had been that way, but Miyeon is matured and understood, she never thought of it as an issue. Never felt any anger or envy towards Sana, though Miyeon somehow wished that her father could've been a better father to her at least once. Unfortunately, He never became a true father to her

With a father like the prince, you shouldn't have any expectations set because there's no use. On the other hand, Miyeon is extremely close with her mother, also aware of her parents' relationship. Miyeon pities Yoomi, that she had to endure being a wife of a man like Taecyeon. Even though her mother doesn't express her emotions, Miyeon knows her mother is living a difficult life. Taecyeon is a handful husband after all

“Did he hit you again?” young Miyeon asked

“You should divorce him, mom. I'd rather have a broken family than a setup like this, I can't take it anymore on how he abuse you physically and emotionally”

“If we are ordinary people, that might be possible. But sweetie, you and your father are part of the royal family who serve the people. It wouldn't be easy and would cause a huge scandal” Yoomi slightly smiled

“Then am I just gonna live witnessing you being hit and yelled at over and over again?” Miyeon asked

“Miyeon, My sweetheart… you're too young to be thinking about things like that. It's our own problem, just enjoy your life as a little girl”

After millions and millions of fights the married couple had, They finally divorced. Kim Yoomi moved out of the palace and flew on the way to Europe to start out a new life. She did all her best to take her three daughters with her, but the court refused to give the full custody of her children as they are set to serve the country. Months later after settling down in Europe, It was announced that Yoomi passed away due to a heart attack. No funeral was held and only the ashes of Yoomi were flown back to Korea that Miyeon kept in the bedroom. Miyeon and Mina were left heartbroken after their mother passed away. However, Sana is indifferent. Probably because she never bothered to be close with her late mother at all
