25 | PEARL THIEF: Lie After Lie

Tapping the fountain pen to the desk nonstop, Taecyeon is zoning out after seeing Miyeon last night. He refused to believe that Miyeon was alive all this time, the girl he thought he killed turned out to be alive.

"Why is she still alive?!" He yelled out in frustration

Jiwoong was standing still with his hands behind his back and his head looking down, frightened from the prince's outbursts. He knows he's doomed for sure now that Miyeon survived the car accident, but how? No matter what the explanation is, The secretary knew it was due to negligence for not double checking if Miyeon really passed away, as Jiwoong didn't even bother to step out of the car but only watch the flames around the car assuming princess Miyeon was long gone

"You!" Taecyeon looked at him then threw away the fountain pen he was holding to Jiwoong causing his forehead to bleed a bit

"You said she's dead! You lied to me, Jiwoong!"

Meanwhile ...

At the funeral hall, The air was nothing but despair. They lost a dear friend of theirs, devastated more than ever. However, almost all of them are also drowning in regret for not trusting Mingyu enough and questioning his loyalties, especially Y/n. She was sitting on the floor in front of his urn, heartbroken. Crying quietly as Y/n blamed herself for Mingu's death

First, It was Mr Eun.. then Miyeon was hurt.. and now her friend? Why does everybody who matters to Y/n get hurt? Y/n regretted when she wasted the time she had when her father was still alive, how much she wanted to turn back time and rather be a good and grateful daughter. And then later on, Y/n blamed herself for Miyeon's accident, she was not around when Miyeon needed her the most. Then just yesterday, Mingyu took a bullet for her when it was Y/n who's supposed to be shot. Why does Y/n keep on losing?

Sana who just got to the funeral hall saw how empty it was, Mingyu had no living family or relatives but their friends. Nayeon saw Sana, she gave him a faint smile before gesturing to her to come inside. As she got inside, Crying Y/n stumbled on her

"Sana" Y/n looked up to her and cried even more

"How many lives do we need to lose for this to end?" Y/n asked

Even Sana doesn't know how many more innocent lives will the High Society take, how inhumane her father is for feeling no guilt or remorse for his victims.

"I'm so sorry" Sana went to her and gave her a warm and comforting embrace

Next day ...

Since Sana found out that Mingyu passed away, she canceled her livestream about exposing Taecyeon but now, she is ready again. The place was set in a remote area, not even the palace could ever track down. Tzuyu brought Jihyo to the hideout of Sana

"Are you really Magenta?" Jihyo was skeptical, she can't be easily convinced but it sort of makes sense anyway. Sana being Magenta shouldn't be a shock considering her nature

"Yes, Jihyo.. I am Magenta" Sana confessed softly

"H-how.. How did that happen?" Jihyo asked

"When I thought Miyeon died, I was disheartened.. my world fell apart. I was guilty, I knew I had the power to help her but I didn't do anything. Maybe a redemption would be nice for how poorly I treated Miyeon, so I thought helping other people would redeem me from my past sins and mistakes. Doing good deeds for other people, exposing the horrible sins was supposed to wash off how terrible I was but it really never went away.."

"If you're Magenta then you work with the Pearl Thief, you know his identity. That's why you had always been defensive or suspicious when it comes to him" Jihyo said in realization
