Flashback, that night ...
"Your highness, once you're finished with your meal.. you should head to the prince's office as he wishes to see you" the maid announced
A little later ...
"Mina, come sit" Taecyeon said
Mina sits on the couch in front of his desk
"So.. how is college? Are you not struggling with your studies?"
"No, dad. I'm doing all fine" Mina smiled
Taecyeon stood up, he carried the bowl of chocolates from the drawer. He sits in front of Mina and placed down the bowl on the table
"My daughters are all now busy, it's nice to see you again"
"Me too, dad. We should hang out at some time.. especially mom's birthday is near"
After Mina said that, she noticed that her father's expression darkened. As if he didn't liked that she mentioned her mom
"That's right, it is Yoomi's 50th birthday. But why would they even celebrate it? She is long gone"
"But dad, she's still our mom.. your wife. We-"
"No, we will not" Taecyeon raised his voice
Mina decided not to speak anymore
"I apologize, my daughter. I just really don't agree with your idea, you know what your mom and I went through. We had a broken marriage and I don't want to be reminded about it again" Taecyeon said
"I understand.. I'm sorry, dad" Mina looked down
Taecyeon's eyes landed on the bowl full of chocolates
"Would you like to try some? A friend gifted it to me" He offered
"No thanks. I don't really like eating sweet things, dad-"
"Come on, you don't wanna disappoint your old man" he fakely smiled
Taecyeon puts the chocolate in Mina's hand. Mina got no choice, her father insisted. But as soon as she unwrapped the chocolate, it smelled kind of funny. It doesn't smell like chocolate at all
'This chocolate smells weird..' Mina thought
"Taste it, it's delicious" Taecyeon said
Taecyeon is her father, well from what she is at least know. So of course, she'd eat something given by her father. There's no reason for her not to trust him, or is there?
Mina smiled a little before eating the chocolate, slowly chewing it. It tastes just like a white chocolate but why does it smell weird? It's not expired either, something is definitely not right about this..
"If it's okay with you, I'd like to excuse myself now, dad. I'm gonna rest" Mina stood up
"Okay, sleep well" Taecyeon said
Mina bows at him before leaving his office, the maid is waiting outside and they walk their way to Mina's bedroom. She is still left wondering, why does the chocolate doesn't smell like one?
"Ms Kim"
"Yes, your highness?"
"I would like to have a fresh apple juice by 9, got it?" Mina asked
A little later ...
After washing up, Mina is now studying. Her vision is getting blurry and now feeling dizzy, she shook it off as she thought that she must be just tired after a long day
