"i think sarah and joey like each other." dove spoke up.

her and john b were lying across from each other on the hammock.

"oh really?" john b raised his eyebrows.

"yeah. they were flirting on the boat." dove informed.

"how do you feel about that?" john b asked.

"why?" dove furrowed her eyebrows.

"because you used to like joey." john b said.

"i never liked joey, he liked me." dove reminded.

"is that why you decided to go on a date with him in eighth grade?" john b raised his eyebrows.

dove scoffed. "john b, that was middle school, are you kidding? that's a ridiculous statement."

"it's still true." john b shrugged.

"john b, that was years ago, i'm pretty sure i'd be over him by now." dove replied.

"that's why you couldn't admit to him that you're my husband, right?" john b raised his eyebrows.

"why are you doing this, huh?" dove questioned.

john b just looked down.

"whatever. i don't need this." dove sighed.

she got up and began walking away.

"dove. dove!" he called.

but she just kept walking, not looking back.
