"Not at all!" Sining rejected outright, feigning shock as she continued, "My job is something I earned through my own hard work and competition. It has nothing to do with my parents. There's no need to bring them into everything. We're not children anymore, relying on our parents to make decisions for us. I can tell you for sure, I've never transferred my job to anyone."
Ignoring Lin Sisi's displeased expression, Sining turned to Chen Jie, who looked uncertain. "Chen Jie, you should know I'm not someone who shirks responsibility. Even if I were to transfer my job, it would be to someone capable, not to just anyone off the street. And transferring requires my signature. I haven't been here, so how could it have been transferred to her? I don't understand what's going on here, and I certainly don't understand how the unit can just give away my job without my consent."
"Of course not!" Chen Jie immediately denied, her tone implying disdain for Lin Sisi's lack of competence. "Our unit values competence above all else. No matter how someone gets in, if they don't have the ability, they won't last long."
This remark was clearly a jab at Lin Sisi's lack of skills. Chen Jie was already angry about the fact that Sining had inexplicably given her job away to an outsider. Now, learning that it was done through a backdoor method she detested only added to her frustration. And to think that Sining herself was unaware of it all!
Chen Jie was someone who had climbed up the ranks through years of hard work and perseverance. She had seen many people without much ability being shoved into positions because of their connections, but encountering someone as audacious as Lin Sisi was a first.
To Chen Jie, Lin Sisi's behavior was no different from those despicable individuals who used others' achievements to get into universities. Her gaze towards Lin Sisi was laden with meaning.
Caught off guard by Chen Jie's piercing look, Lin Sisi's breath hitched, and she almost couldn't maintain her composure. Under the uncertain gazes of the others, she lowered her head and bit her lip, feigning innocence. "Sining, I really didn't know anything. I just followed my parents' arrangements. They asked me to come here."
She was quite adept at playing the innocent victim. Sining knew that the original host's parents were somewhat snobbish, but they wouldn't go to such extremes. Lin Sisi's act was unconvincing; even ghosts wouldn't believe her.
Sining sneered, "You're right. My parents were just worried that I wouldn't be able to come back to work, but it's fine now. I'm back, so you don't need to trouble yourself anymore. You can go back."
Lin Sisi was left speechless. What was all her hard work and enduring the scolding for? She felt like steam was about to come out of her head in anger.
Sining ignored Lin Sisi and turned to Chen Jie. "Actually, my parents' concerns were not unfounded. It's indeed inconvenient for me to come back to work now that I've returned to the countryside. But I'm worried that delaying it for too long might cause trouble for you, Chen Jie. That's why I wanted to come and resolve this issue today."
Chen Jie nodded, understanding Sining's situation to some extent. Seeing her with a child and still thinking about her work, Chen Jie couldn't help but soften her heart a bit. She sighed and asked, "What are your plans then?"
"It's not appropriate to let an outsider take over my job. It would not only inconvenience you but also make me feel guilty," Sining replied.
Lin Sisi, standing nearby, turned green with envy upon hearing this. However, this wasn't the Song family, and she had no say in the matter.
Sining continued, "So, I plan to sell this job. I'll sell it to some professionals in our unit. I believe those who buy the job at a high price will surely treat it seriously."
Upon hearing this, Fu Qianqian's ears perked up, practically screaming "sell it to me" without saying a word. Her dream was to become a radio host, and now it was right in front of her, within easy reach!
She nervously looked at Sining, regretting why she had argued with her before. If only she had maintained a good relationship with her, she could have had the job by now.
Fu Qianqian's face turned red with anxiety.
陈姐 pondered for a moment. Their kind of stable job was something many people would pay a fortune for and still couldn't obtain. Very few would be willing to sell it unless they were left with no choice.
"Do you have any recommended candidates?" Chen Jie asked.
Sining nodded and said, "I think Fu Qianqian is excellent. Her voice is powerful, and her Mandarin is very standard. Plus, she interviewed with me before, and I believe her abilities are not inferior to mine."
Fu Qianqian beside them was taken aback. Did she hear it right? Sining actually recommended her?
Chen Jie and Fu Qianqian were quite familiar with each other. They were aware of Fu Qianqian's status as a young lady, and although she could be a bit arrogant at times, she never relied on her family's status to get ahead. Instead, she chose to compete fairly and justly like most people. Chen Jie had a favorable impression of her.
"Well, you should ask her if she's willing to buy it from you..." Chen Jie turned to Fu Qianqian.
Fu Qianqian's height didn't meet the standard, and if she didn't rely on her family's connections, she would never be able to become a radio host in her lifetime. After all, good image and temperament were also important selection criteria.
"I'm willing, I'm willing!" Fu Qianqian said hastily, as if afraid that Chen Jie would change her mind.
"How much are you willing to sell it to me for?" she asked Sining, grabbing her hand.
Sining countered, "How much are you willing to offer?"
"Two thousand, will you sell?" Fu Qianqian was still naïve, especially since her family was wealthy and willing to spend.
But people who offered money upfront tended to be naive. Sining saw through it. Despite their differences, she realized Fu Qianqian's intentions weren't malicious. So, she didn't push for more and agreed, "Okay, I'll sell it to you."
"Ah! Yes! Let's go, let's go!" Fu Qianqian, who originally came to pick a fight, was now ecstatic, dancing with joy. "We need to process the paperwork immediately!"
She feared Sining might change her mind, so she wanted to complete the procedure quickly, leaving Sining regretful.
On the other hand, being ignored made Lin Sisi unable to sit still. Seeing Sining sell the job, she had to intervene. "Sining, how can you make such a big decision so quickly? Have your parents agreed?"
As soon as she spoke, she received Fu Qianqian's resentful glare.
Sining mocked, "I'm already an adult. I can make my own decisions about my job. Besides, my parents have found their biological daughter. For over a decade, I've repaid their kindness by going to the countryside, marrying you off, and taking care of your mess. I don't think I owe you anything."
"Since they're not my parents and have no right to interfere with my choices, I don't need your concern." Sining finished speaking, carrying her child, and went to handle the paperwork with Fu Qianqian.
Fu Qianqian knew Lin Sisi must have been eyeing the position and was now wary of her. She couldn't help but make a sarcastic remark, "Having her be my sister-in-law would be worse than having you!"
