Sinian raised an eyebrow in response, then glanced at Zhou Yueshen, silently asking: What's wrong with him?
Zhou Yueshen glanced at Yu Dong but didn't say anything.
He was perfectly fine just moments ago.
The car left the city, and by noon, Yao Yao was dozing off in the car. In no time, her little head tilted and she fell asleep in her father's arms.
Zhou Yueshen draped a coat over her and looked at Sinian beside him.
Sinian was recounting what had just happened. She mentioned that Fu Qianqian was supposed to go on stage, but when she felt unwell with stomach pains, Yu Dong's previously listless demeanor changed abruptly. "What? She's not feeling well? How can she not be feeling well? Is she okay?"
So, he wasn't intentionally ignored just now, but because Fu Qianqian wasn't feeling well?
Yu Dong frowned with concern evident in his eyes.
Sinian glanced at him and shook her head. "Not entirely sure, but I think everything should be fine now."
Yu Dong breathed a sigh of relief.
Sinian looked at Zhou Yueshen. "Can your delivery still enter through the school gates?" Normally, with so many people and leaders on the playground, vehicles wouldn't be allowed to pass.
Zhou Yueshen looked down at her, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly as he replied in a low voice, "No."
"Then how did you know I was inside?"
Yu Dong snapped out of his thoughts and hurriedly explained, "Sister-in-law, I heard there was a radio host coming to the school today for a speech. Out of curiosity, I came over. Big brother definitely had no intention of seeing anyone else."
Sinian nodded thoughtfully.
Although I don't know the exact reasons from the novel, nonetheless, Zhou Yueshen and the others would still appear here.
In the novel, the original cause of the female protagonist's jealousy led her to attend this event. Not only was she insulted by Fu Yang, but she was also caught in the act by Zhou Yueshen, who was delivering goods to the school. Their already strained relationship worsened... laying the foundation for their eventual divorce. It's really been quite a rollercoaster.
Fortunately, in the current plot, events have unfolded differently. Neither Sinian nor Zhou Yueshen have been affected. Instead, it seems Fu Yang and Lin Sisi didn't fare too well. How the tables have turned.
Sinian couldn't help but glance at the man beside her.
Zhou Yueshen remained calm.
Sinian looked away and said, "If he were interested in other women, you wouldn't tell me."
Zhou Yueshen raised an eyebrow and turned to look at her.
He leaned down and kissed her nose.
"No," he said. "I wouldn't."
He said it with the calmest tone, speaking with absolute certainty.
Sinian didn't give any chance for doubt.
Yu Dong: "..."
Who was actually driving this car?
The car dropped the two off at their doorstep. Zhou Yueshen and Yu Dong didn't linger; they returned to the pig farm to continue their work.
Sinian bid farewell to them both, carrying a few books and holding Yao Yao as she went home.
At home, the two children had already returned from school. Just as Sinian walked through the gate of Zhou's house, the eldest ran up and grabbed her hand.
"Mama, come quick. Little brother's tooth hurts."
Sinian frowned and hurried into the house, setting down the books she was carrying and following her son upstairs.
In the second-floor room, her younger son was lying on the bed, holding half of his face and whimpering, his face pale.
"Xiao Han, what's wrong with your tooth? Let Mama take a look." Sinian quickly walked over and sat down beside the bed, looking at Zhou Zehan, who was covering half of his face.
Upon seeing Sinian, Zhou Zehan was afraid she would see his swollen face and immediately sat up straight, firmly shaking his head. "My tooth is fine. I accidentally fell."
Zhou Zedong immediately spoke in a deep voice, "You're in pain. You were crying out last night, and I heard it."
Last night, he had heard his younger son's cries and had asked him what was wrong. Zhou Zehan had said his tooth hurt. Zhou Zedong had also asked if he had eaten too much candy because their mother had warned them that too much candy could cause cavities. There had been a lot of candy left over from a banquet they had hosted, and they had been eating candy every day. He was concerned that his younger son had eaten too much.
Originally, when his father had taken them to school that morning, he had intended to tell his father, but his younger brother had said he wasn't in pain. Zhou Zedong hadn't thought much of it. However, after school in the afternoon, he had found that his younger brother's face was swollen on one side, which had made him aware that something was wrong.
He used to endure any discomfort from bumps and falls on his own; after a few days, he would usually recover on his own. Surely, his tooth would heal on its own as well.
Sinian could tell at a glance that this child was probably about to lose his baby teeth. Xiao Han was now over seven years old, the age when children typically start losing their baby teeth. It was quite normal.
"Okay, if it's serious later, you must tell Mama, alright?"
"It'll definitely be better tomorrow," Zhou Zehan assured eagerly. His movement was too abrupt, though, and it aggravated his dental nerve, nearly causing him to faint from the pain.
However, when Sinian glanced over, he immediately pretended nothing was wrong.
This child really cared a lot about his pride.
During dinner, Sinian worried that he wouldn't be able to eat due to his toothache, so she specially made millet porridge and steamed eggs, his favorite.
Zhou Zehan sluggishly slumped over the table doing his homework, but when he caught a whiff of the food, he sat up straight.
His eyes sparkled as he looked at the steamed egg on the table, the aroma of it like a tempting jelly.
"Mom, is this for Xiao Han?" He glanced left at his sister and right at his brother—neither had any, only he did!
Sinian smiled and tousled his head, then glanced at his slightly swollen left cheek. "Yes, it's for Xiao Han. Today, Mom allows you to have a little more egg."
Usually, because they got enough protein every day, Sinian only occasionally steamed eggs for the children. All of them loved it.
"Thank you, Mom, you're the best!" The younger son suddenly felt that his toothache wasn't so bad anymore. He licked his lips at the egg custard and generously scooped a large spoonful into his sister's and brother's bowls before starting to eat himself.
Sinian glanced at him but didn't say anything.
Zhou Yueshen didn't come back in the evening. Sinian was worried about the child's toothache. After the children fell asleep, she went to his room to check.
She had intended to see if he was starting to lose his baby teeth, but as soon as she entered the room, she heard Zhou Zehan's heavy breathing.
She quickly turned on the light, and his face was burning red.
He had a fever.
She gently patted his face, and Zhou Zehan groggily opened his eyes, feeling like he was burning up all over, as if he were about to die.
