Finally, the car pulled up to Austin's apartment, and the two men sat in silence for a moment, taking in the events of the evening. The ride had been brief, but it had been a memorable one. Elvis was the first one to exit the car, and he quickly opened the door for Austin. As Austin stepped out, Elvis held his hand to help him out of the car and then walked him up to the front door.
After opening the door to his apartment, and taking off their shoes Austin turned to Elvis and said, "Come here, I have a surprise for you."
Elvis furrows his brows and steps closer to his boyfriend in the short hallway by the door. Austin covers Elvis' eyes and leads him towards the kitchen, and Elvis can't help but feel a little bit nervous not sure what to expect.
"Austin? What's going on?" he asked.
"Well, you've had a stressful day with the concert and all, and since you can't cook, I wanted to surprise you," Austin replies with a grin.
As they enter the kitchen, Elvis could smell something delicious that had been cooked in there earlier.
"Ok here we are", Austin drops his hands from his lover's eyes with a wide grin proud of what he'd accomplished.
"Oh wow! Darlin' what all this?"
"Well, it's a nice candlelit dinner for the two of us. I wanted to make it special since we haven't seen each other all week and also as a well done for your show I knew you'd kick butt out there." He says with a chuckle as he goes over to the table to light the candles with some matches.
Elvis looks at the sight before him, the nicely set table, rose petals sprinkled over the setting, and candles on the kitchen counters and table that his boyfriend was finishing lighting. He couldn't help but feel a sense of relief and gratitude as he realized that Austin had gone to great lengths to make sure he had a relaxing and enjoyable evening after the hectic week he'd had with the rehearsals and the colonel breathing down his neck about scheduling more performances across the country.
"I still can't believe this. It smells great, Darlin'. What did you make?"
"Something simple. I made it earlier today." Austin walks over to the fridge and brings out the pan of lasagna he had made.
"I 'll just heat it in the oven real quick ."
"Austin, you didn't have to do all this."
"I know I didn't, but I wanted to."
"Ok baby I think it's time for you to go take a shower, you're still sweaty from your performance," Austin tells Elvis as they get out of their hug.
"OK fine"
After hugging Austin tightly, Elvis leans in and plants a gentle kiss on his cheek. He then made his way to the bathroom to freshen up. Once he was done, he looks through Austin's closet in search of something comfortable to wear. Eventually, he finds a pair of casual pants and a T-shirt that fit him perfectly. He quickly changes into these clothes and rejoins Austin in the kitchen.
The food was still heating when Elvis returned. Austin was retrieving a bottle of wine from the cupboard. "Would you like to pour us some wine while I go turn on some music?"
