~2017~
First day of High School.

"I can't believe today's your first day of high school! Just yesterday, we were bringing you home from the hospital." My mom says as she gets emotional.
"Mom, it's not that big of a deal, I swear." I say, putting my shoes on.
"New friends! New classes! And new boys!" She said winking.
"Ew, stop. I'm dating Matt." I said, grabbing my bag.
"I know, but it's still exciting. You have your whole life ahead of you and Matt is just a phase. Have fun at school!" She yells as I leave the house.
I salute with two fingers and close my front door.

Damn, that hurt.
I know we just got to freshman year but it hurts that she still doesn't accept Matt as my boyfriend.
I put in my airpods, open my Spotify and click play.
1-800-273-8255 by Logic plays and I start walking to school.
The brisk morning air blows through my hair as I clutch my redbull and put my hand in my pocket.

I turn the corner and there it is.
High School.
I visibly shiver and start walking closer.
I've never noticed how much school looks like a prison. I hope it's not like it on the inside.
I walk in to see a bunch of familiar faces, and some unfamiliar.
The cliques have already gotten to each other. I look around to try and find Matt and his brothers.
"Are you lost, dear?" An elderly woman asks.
"No, I'm just looking for my friends." I say softly.
She nods her head and walks off.

I walk around a little bit, still searching.
As I'm about to give up, a paper wad gets thrown at me. I look up to see them.
"What took you so long?" Chris asked, smiling.
I pick up the paper wad and throw it back at him.
"I got lost." I lie.
"Liar." Matt says.
I walk over to them and give Nick and Chris a hug.
Matt grabs my hand and pulls me over to him and lands a soft kiss on my cheek.
"Hi babe." He says, smiling.
"Hi." I giggle.
We look around then Nick says, "So we're here now."
I nod my head and sigh.
We walk around together, trying to get our barring as we wait for school to start.
"Why is it so big?" I groan.
"That's what she said." Chris laughs.
I hit him in the arm.
"Not what I meant." I roll my eyes.

The bell rings and we start walking to class.
Matt and I go to our class while Nick and Chris go to theirs.
We grab seats in the back, next to each other.
The teacher just talks about himself and what the class is going to include for the year.

It seems that is the theme for the day as I get to my final class.
I sit in the back and Chris sits next to me.
Once the teacher finishes her spiel, she lets us hang out until the bell rings. Chris and I just talk about our summers until a girl walks up to us.
"Hi." She says, looking at Chris.
"Hi." He says.
I lean back a little to watch the chaos unfold.
"I like your hat." She says, quietly.
I cover my mouth with my hand and giggle softly.
"Thanks. I like your shoes." He responds and kicks me.
Her face turns red and she runs off.
"ThAnKs, i LiKe yOuR sHoEs." I mimick him, dramatically.
"Shut up." He says, looking down.
I smile and we hear the bell.
We get up to meet Matt and Nick outside.
"Let's go to the park." Nick says.
I nod and we walk our way to the park.
