Clark had been looking after his mother for the past few days, ensuring she was OK and had everything she needed. She was shot in the left shoulder and was told to rest for a few weeks. He hadn't been on the lookout since the last time; he still goes out, does some superheroing, and goes to work, but not to the lookout.

Clark was sitting on the porch swing seat. As the screen door opened, he looked up, and his mom came out. He quickly stood and went to her, helping her to the seat. "You can go back to look out, you know," she said, and Clark shook his head.

"No, I have to make sure you are ok," He replied, and his mom scoffed.

"I will be fine, Clark," she said, gently resting her hand on him. Besides, what about Batman? Aren't you missing your soulmate?" she asked, and Clark sighed softly.

"I do, but I doubt he will notice I haven't been there for the past week," Clark said, running a hand through his hair.

"I'm sure he misses you too," His mom said, and Clark shrugged.

"Maybe I will go today for a short while," Clark said, and his mom smiled and patted him on the head, making him feel like a puppy.

He went up to his room and changed into his Superman costume. He returned a few minutes later and said goodbye to his mom before zooming off. Ten minutes later, he made it to the lookout. He landed and made his way to the hangout area, where he could hear the rest of the team talking.

He entered the room, and the others turned to look at him, smiling as they saw him. The only person who wasn't there was Batman, but Clark knew he was probably in the security room. He said a few quick hellos and then went to the security room, where he did indeed find his soulmate.

"Hey, Bats." He said, and Batman looked up from the tablet he was working on.

"Superman, you're back." He said, looking at the flowers that the red and blue hero held out to him.

Clark had seen them in a field on the way and picked a few to bring to the Dark Knight. "Thank you," Batman said as he took them, laying them down on the table. "How is your mom?" Bats asked, and Clark smiled, happy that the other man was making conversation with him.

"She is fine; it was just a shot to the shoulder; she was at the bank when it was being robbed," Clark said, and Bats nodded.

"Did they catch who did it?" Bats asked, and Clark nodded. "Hey, I was wondering..." Batman began but paused as Superman turned his bright blue eyes on him. "Do you maybe want to have dinner?" Batman rushed out, and Clark stared at him wide-eyed.

"I-I, Sure." Superman stuttered, his heart beating faster than normal.

"Awesome, I have to go, but give me your number, and we'll work out the details," Batman said. Clark then looked excitedly at his mate walking out of the room.
