It's absurd that Taehyung's rut came unannounced. It's fucking unbelievable that his cycle repeated itself a second time in two months. It's been only 28 days since his last cycle, and he wasn't supposed to have his next rut in the four months to come. There weren't any pre-rut symptoms, unlike the last two times too. It was like his wolf decided it's the right time to enter his cycle, unprompted (not exactly because he knows Jimin is the trigger for his rut and his alpha is secretly proud of the small but important detail) at the right fucking time. Right when Jimin entered his heat.

So much for avoiding Jimin. So much for being an ass to the Omega for something the older one doesn't have control over.

Maybe that's the reason Taehyung is sitting slumped on the floor, watching his beloved omega snooze peacefully in the middle of his nest, a place he isn't allowed to enter. Fuck his entire existence.

There's no way he could run to his house in this state. An alpha in his rut is too much of a threat to wander unbothered and free in their pack. Either their pack is going to charge him for causing havoc by roaming around, or his father is disowning him for acting recklessly. Well, because, according to his alpha father, a man should always be prepared for what's to come. Technically, Taehyung could have done that. It's not like it's his first rut to fuss over or make a big deal about. He is a man in his twenties, an alpha who has gone through cycles, some of which were painful; he won't lie. So he should have control over his wolf. But apparently, Taehyung's alpha malfunctions in the presence of one pretty omega, Mimi, who, to his utter surprise and dismay, gave Taehyung the green light to spend his cycle in Jimin's home.

Like, do you understand the seriousness of this casual 'yes' Jimin gave him as a reply when he asked if he could stay for the night at Jimin's house?

'It's okay, Taehyungie', Jimin had said, the omega's voice, gentle, quiet, and submissive, 'you can stay here as long as you want. It's not good for you to go out in this state'.

Honestly? Taehyung didn't hear the whole thing because he was in a dilemma. The reason for his conflict was because he couldn't pick where to keep his eyes on-and whether he would get kicked out for drooling over a pair of pink, smooth legs or get his ass beaten over staring too long at the slope of Jimin's neck, where his wolf could sense the Omega's scent gland pulsating vividly, anticipating a move from him. Him, Jimin's potential mate.

Jimin was sitting upright in the middle of his nest, the sheets crumpled around him, swarming and making the omega look so tiny and tinier that all Taehyung could think was the word 'soft'. Also, the sweater paw? It's decided that Jimin is suffering from a chronic syndrome of cuteness overload and that Taehyung's cause of death will be the decompensation of his heart to tolerate the sight of his pretty mate.

'You can sleep in the spare room'

'Call me if you need anything', Jimin continued, the selfless soul still being considerate in such a crucial moment, and all Taehyung was doing was having unholy thoughts about the omega.

Taehyung's conscious mind (lmao, what's left of it, actually) has been reminding him time and time again that Jimin is playing a part in driving him wild. Because he couldn't have possibly imagined the teasing tone in Jimin's voice or the little deliberate arch of the omega's spine (thereby accentuating the pretty curve of his waist) when Jimin leaned forward to grab the food tray he had placed at the foot of the omega's nest. Taehyung definitely did not imagine the satisfied smirk pulling at Jimin's lips when the Omega saw him gulp thickly.
