The three jogged back to the Glade exhaustedly in complete silence after Londyn and Minho's altercation, finding the group of Gladers standing exactly where they had been earlier, eager to know what hectic events had been taking place out there based on the noise.
"What the hell's going on out there?" Newt questioned stressfully after they splashed through a puddle and continued to flee the Maze doors, the group following after them inquisitively.
"What the hell you done now, Thomas?" Gally demanded rudely, his eyes still analyzing the disheveled Maze.
"We found something," Thomas revealed. "A new passage, we think it could be a way out."
"Really?" Newt replied, completely astonished, and Londyn's lips parted, equally as surprised.
"Actually?"
"It's true," Minho confirmed, his voice still tired and hoarse, and he refused to make eye contact with his girlfriend. "We opened a door, something I'd never seen before."
"Wait, woah, woah," Chuck scurried forward, so he was level with Thomas. "You're saying you found the Grievers' home and you want us to go in?"
Thomas nodded, and Minho tilted his head slightly, feeling somewhat proud of finally having found something after all those years.
"Their way in could be our way out, Chuck," Thomas told him.
"Yeah, or there could be a dozen Grievers on the other side!" Gally spat, falling behind as he refused to storm any further at their pace. "The truth is, Thomas doesn't know what he's done, as usual!"
"Yeah," Thomas swiveled around sharply. "At least I did something, Gally. I mean, what have you done, huh? Aside from hide behind these walls all the time?"
"Let me tell you something, Greenie," Gally retorted, getting up in his face and towering over him with his muscular build. "You've been here three days, all right? I've been here three years!"
"Yeah, you've been here three years and you're still here, Gally!" Thomas snapped, his voice ripping raw from his throat. "All right, so what does that tell you? Maybe you should start doing things a little differently!"
"Maybe you should be in charge, what about that?!"
Over the sound of their arguing, no one noticed Teresa attempting to get their attention, except Londyn who noticed her on the sidelines.
"Guys, shut up!" she shouted frustratedly, gesturing for her friend to finally speak. "What is it, Teresa?"
"It's Alby," she announced calmly. "He's awake."
A small group followed her frantically to the shadow-draped Med-Hut where Alby sat shirtless in the darkness, trauma masking the once-composed face he had on most of the time.
"Has he said anything?" Minho asked, and Londyn bit her lip in hopes that he wouldn't say what everyone else did when they went through the Changing.
"No," Teresa replied.
"Alby," Newt was the first to kneel down by him, hoping to receive some sort of response that made sense. He then sat next to him on the bed, barely able to recognize his friend. "Alby, you all right?"
Alby's lips trembled, and tears were pooling in his eyes. His arms sported bruises, his face decorated with grazes. He said nothing, he was nothing like the fearless leader they once looked up to.
Thomas crouched down in front of him to make his attempt at talking. "Hey, Alby. Alby, we might've just found a way out of the Maze. Do you hear me? We could get out of here."
