Alone Again

CHAPTER 15

"Grazie, Signora." Amy stood up from the couch and shook hands with the man standing opposite to her. She gave him a big smile and escorted him towards the door. "Ciao." He said while waving back at her and moving on towards the exit. Suddenly a black suited man with strict expression entered. "Welcome, Mister Oliver. I was waiting you to come." Amy said and took him to living room. "My bad, I was stuck in traffic." He said without showing expressions. Alex also came inside the house without any warning.

"Everyone, where are you guys?" He shouted on the top of his lungs. "What happened?" Elisa asked while coming down with other. "Hannah's further hearing is day after tomorrow. The lawyer said that she may get life sentence as per according to all the evidences submitted by us." He said with a big smile.

"What a great yet expected news." Amy said while grinning. Alex's expression fell a little bit sad  after noticing her cold expressions towards him. "Well I was about to call you. It's good you came yourself." She said while looking at Alex.

"I am still present here and as matter of fact I like to keep my environment professional Mrs. Edison." Mister Oliver said while coughing to gain attention towards him. "I am awfully sorry. And also I prefer to be called by my first name. Alex, come and sign these papers." Amy said while sitting back on couch. Alex went towards the couch and sat opposite of her. "What kind of papers?

"Divorce papers" She said without showing any expressions.

"WHAT?" Everyone said together. "Amy... what are you talking about?" He said while gulping hard on his saliva. "I told you, you were my husband. I have decided to end everything. We have to separate for better." She said while looking at him. His mouth formed no words. "Separation... it's a big thing. Don't you feel a bit mercy or pity for me? All these years you never ever said anything about divorce and suddenly. Why?" He said while his voice was breaking in between. "I have decided. I wanted us separated a long time ago. We are no good. We should never be together."

"AT LEAST YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME THE REASON BEFORE SIGNING THESE PAPERS." He shouted all of sudden. Everyone looked at him with pity. They knew he has suffered enough. They knew he has realized his mistakes and he is trying his best to make them better. He is trying to make himself better for her.

"I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE. IT SUFFOCATES ME. IT'S US WHO SUFFOCATES ME THE MOST." She also shouted back. "Amy, maybe you should think twice. Marriage is not something to end that easily." Michael said while stepping in between their fight.

"Michael, just don't." She said while signing him to stop. "Why? Why he should stop? He is saying the truth." Alex said while holding her arm tightly. She jerked his hand away. "Here's the truth, you and I are not meant to be together." She said while coming close to him. "It's not you who will decide whether we are meant to be or not." He said while again trying to hold her hand. "Well, I ain't gonna let destiny choose either. I won't let fate decided my path. I write my own fate." She said while stepping back.

"Is it because of what happened years ago? Are you still stuck on that? I have said millions of time and I will say it again, I am trying my best to make everything better. I AM TRYING TO MAKE MYSELF BETTER. SO, PLEASE FORGIVE ME." He broke out in front of everyone. "I AM READY TO BEG YOU IN FRONT OF EVERYONE BUT PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE DOING THIS TO ME." He said while sitting on his knees. Evan tried to go near him but Amy signed him to stop right there. "Get up." She said still keeping her face straight. "I want you to tell me what have I done?" Alex said while looking at her in her eyes like he is trying to find the truth behind that cold sheet. "I won't repeat one thing again and again. It's over between us like I had said years ago. Sign the papers without wasting time." She said rolling her eyes like she doesn't care at all. Like she won't show any pity towards him and it's like his efforts mean nothing to her. "I won't, I won't till I get a satisfying reason." He said while looking away from her. "Okay then, do whatever you want to. From my side I am setting myself and you free from us." She gave him the engagement ring in his hand. His hand trembled as the cold metal touched his hand. A flow of emotions was running inside his mind. She left him with his devastated situation once again. He fell on his knees once again. Evan patted his back lightly.
