I consider asking one of the maids to tell my father that I was not feeling well today, and would stay in my room. But I knew very well that I could not do that. Today I chose a green dress and regardless of what people might say I would spend as much time in my room as possible. I went down to the dining room to eat breakfast and just like yesterday I chose a slice of bread with scrambled eggs. Maybe just maybe it would taste better today, but no. Nothing could match Louis' scrambled eggs.

When everyone had finished eating, I waited a bit to see what the others would do. Most of them went home, but Mr. Werry and Charles accompanied father to his office. Great then I could go up to my room and stay there without guilt.

I was up there for a long time, I read tow books before I looked at the clock. Dinner would be served in an hour. So for lack of anything else to do, I decided to change my clothes. I knew that red was not my color, yet I chose a red dress with a large skirt. I had never worn it before. I had always thought the clewigc was too big. But fuck it, now I didn't give a damn about how I looked, with any luck I might scare Charles and his father away with such a scandalous dress. Then, to highlight everything that the dress didn't hide, I put my hair up. Once done, I smiled at myself in the mirror, it was a devilish smile and if my life was only going to get worse in the future, I would go out with a bang.

As I walked towards the dining room I was met by two maids, one gasped when she saw me, but both lowered their eyes and curtseed. Well, exactly the reaction I wanted. Then the door opened and I stepped inside. Immediately I had three pairs of eyes on me and in my father's face was reflected everything I hoped for.
" Y/n what are you wearing!"
Before he could continue, he was interrupted by Charls.
"Yes Y/n, I've never seen you like this!"
My father's angry look pierced me as I answered triumphantly.
"Yes, the dress is new, I think it fits perfectly!"
"You look like--."
"You look splendid!"
Charles interrupted his father, and my smile faded ever so slightly.
We all sat down and the food was served. Tonight it was fish soup.

"What say men, shall we enjoy dessert in the red salon?"
My father asked his guests and they agreed.
"Wonderful idea Mr. Mckensly!"
"Well thank you Mr. Werry!"
They both laughed and as they started to move towards the hall I said.
"I must thank you for a wonderful evening, but I think I must decline the dessert."
"Oh no my dear, come along!"
Mr. Werry had grabbed my arm before I could protest and if somewhat reluctantly I followed. Once in the salon, I placed myself as far away from Charles as possible.

After the cookies, cream, and cake were set out and the servants had left us, the men began their conversation. I didn't listan, I just wanted to be in my room, so only when father said they had news to share with me did they catch my attention.
"Well uhh, young lady, you're doing uhh." Started Mr. Werry before my dad interrupted.
"Ohh wait Jack, don't you think Charls should tell!"
"Yes, yes of course! So tell her, my boy!"
Judging by the look on Charl's face, I knew it wasn't something good I was about to learn.
"You probably know that our fathers have been working together for a long time, and they have been thinking about merging their companies, so to do so it has been decided."
He began rummaging in his pocket and took out a small box. Only then did I begin to understand.
"It has been decided that I Charls Werry."
He opened the box to reveal a gold ring with a large diamond.
"And you June Alice Y/n Mckensly."
No no no.
"Are going to get married."
No.
The smile on his lips as he placed the ring on my finger was big, but his eyes were gimering white something else.

"No."
It slipped out before I thought about it.
"No?"
Mr. Werry looked both confused and angry.
"No!"
"Y/n!"
My father said warningly, but I couldn't care less.
"No a thousand times no!"
"Y/n! Now don't let your nerves talk for you!"
"Ohh it's not my nerves!!"
"Y/n!! Now you sit down and apologize!"
In my anger I had stood up and my father was now shouting at me.
"Over my dead body!"
"She's as crazy as her mother!"
"Ohh no! I'm not crazy, but your son over there!"
"Y/n!!"
Before I faced any real consequences, I rushed out of the room, and the house. I ran and ran.
Only when I stopped did I realize where I was. I was in the meadow where it all began.

As the anger left my body it turned to sadness. What had I done! My father would surely kill me, but on the other hand, it was his fault! He well threw a marriage on me, never! I'd rather die alone and old than marry Charles Werry! The arrogant, disgusting asshole! But sooner or later I had to go back. Until I realized something, a rabbit holes. Not just a rabbit hole, the rabbit hole! I ran again, but now I knew where I was going. It was harder to find it in the dark, but I did. This time I didn't hear any voices, but at worst it didn't work anymore and I'd get stuck down there, death by rabbit hole was better than marriage to Charles Werry, so without hesitation I sat down and pushed away with my hands.

It was dark, of course it was dark. This time, though, I shielded my head with my hands just in case, and down there, was that? Yes, it was, ther a light!
But was it me who approached it or was it the light who approached me? Or maybe it was both, because while I was falling the light, from what I now sa was a lamp, seems to float upwards.
