The night was serene, graced with a gentle warm breeze. Scaramouche and Kazuha, sat before the flickering campfire, they watched the sparks dance into the night. The warmth of the fire battled their growing sleepiness, as they both wished to savour the moments together a little while longer. Kazuha leaned onto the other sighing gently. Leaves twirled in the air, illuminated by the dwindling fire. As the flames shrank, the two began to shiver in the growing chill but they still refused to get up at they were enjoying each others quiet company.

"It's cold," Kazuha commented sleepily.

"It is," the other agreed in a quiet voice.

"Instead of separate tents, can we share?" the poet murmured. "Otherwise, I'll be cold."

Scaramouche nodded his head, silently agreeing with the idea.

"The stars seem a bit dim tonight" Kazuha commented softly looking up

"do you believe the stars are real?" Scaramouche wondered

"yeah I suppose" Kazuha replied

The moonlight caressed the pairs skin tenderly, it was a soft luminescence making their skin glow in the breath of night. The sky was a canvas of infinite depth adorned with the light from distant galaxies.

"It's late.. we should settle down" Kazuha suggested

"lets go"

They rose and sleepily made their way to the tent where Scaramouche was meant to be sleeping alone. Slipping under the blankets, they laid next to each other in silence. As usual Kazuha struggled to sleep unlike the wanderer.

Kazuha observed the other's tranquil expression as he slept soundly. The poet's eyes traced the soft features of the other, finding beauty in the vulnerability of the moment. The night air was filled with the unspoken love Kazuha had for Scaramouche. He gently closed his eyes moving closer to the wanderer so he could feel more warmth eventually he fell into a deep sleep.

--

Scaramouche woke up first. For a while he kept his eyes closed as the harsh bright light of the sun flooded in. When he finally opened his eyes he saw that Kazuha was still sleeping. He planted a soft kiss on the others forehead before smiling to himself. The wanderer sat up rubbing his eyes clearing his blurred vision.

When he attempted to leave Kazuha whined quietly in his sleep his arms wrapping around Scaramouche's waist wanting him to stay. Scaramouche stroked the poet's hair, unable to contain his smile.

"Stay.. please" Kazuha murmured, his eyes remaining closed.

The wanderer gently freed himself from Kazuha's embrace, mumbling something about starting a new fire. Kazuha turned over, clutching any spare blanket close as he remained asleep.

--

Later in the day, they arrived at Qiaoying Village, where they planned to stay for their short trip. The two dropped their belongings off in a room at an inn where they would spend the night.

"Let's go explore!" Kazuha exclaimed, excited to be in a new place. "Chenyu is so close to Fontaine; do you think we could see it if we climb high enough?"

"Probably. This is the last stretch of land before the other nation," the wanderer replied.

"I've never been to Fontaine."

"Really?" Scaramouche responded. "Since it's not far from Liyue, I thought you might have visited."

"Which nations have you been to?" the poet inquired.

"All of them."

"All of them!?"

Scaramouche nodded. "I used to travel a lot," he said, reflecting on his past.

"Why did you stop?" the other asked.

"I lost interest in it," Scaramouche answered.

Kazuha nodded. He had always been curious about Scaramouche's past before they met, but every time he asked the other would always ignore the question.

"So, where should we go?" Scaramouche asked.

"I'm not sure," Kazuha replied. "Maybe we should just look around the village."

The pair left to wander through the unfamiliar streets of their new destination. The village lay in tranquillity, covered by a canopy of green leaves. The scent of tea meandered through the air, bestowing a distinctive fragrance that only the air there had. In the tea field, everyone was engaged, meticulously harvesting the leaves and gently placing them into beautifully hand crafted woven baskets. A quaint river flowed through the village, its fresh, cold waters were where delicate white cloud minnows dwelled. As the sun dipped below the horizon, it cast the sky in shades of deepening blue, signalling the end of the day.

"After we eat, let's explore the outsides of the village in the dark," Scaramouche suggested, his gazing sweeping over the surrounding area.

"That's such a great idea," Kazuha agreed, smiling sweetly.

--

After their meal, they strolled to a secluded bridge on the village's outskirts. There, they settled down, the moon's reflection shimmering on the water's surface. Crafted from polished wood, the low bridge allowed them to sit with their legs hanging just above the water, almost grazing its calm surface.

"I can't believe we already have to go back tomorrow" Kazuha commented "especially because we just got here"

"yeah, we probably should have gone earlier on in the week"

"I'm excited for the main festival in the harbour" Kazuha spoke "we should light a xiao lantern together"

Scaramouche nodded his head in a silent agreement, "don't leave me to hangout with someone else otherwise I'll be alone"

"I wouldn't do that, after all I did invite you"

The two sat in a comfortable silence. This was something the pair often did as they shared a connection where a lot of times words were unnecessary. They leaned against each other, completely at ease, with no hint of discomfort to disrupt the silence.
