As the night progressed, Liyue Harbour pulsed with liveliness. Scaramouche and Kazuha began ambling around as all the stalls began to open signalling the official start of the main events. The sound of children's laughter, as they played with their newly won toys, filled the air. The aroma of sizzling street food was prominent throughout the city. Gold glowing lanterns hung from every building casting warm hues to light up the streets. Their delicate paper surfaces moved in the breeze creating a mesmerising dance of light in the harbours waters.
"I never knew lantern rite was this busy" Scaramouche commented looking around amazed
"well it is the most important event of the year" the poet replied "what do you want to do first?"
"I don't know.. there's so much"
"Then lets go over there" Kazuha suggested pointing over to a stall "we can take pictures to remember tonight"
"sure"
The pair approached the booth, It was a small photo booth where a kamera was strategically positioned to capture the festive decorations adorning the harbour as the backdrop.
"would you two like a photo?" the vendor asked
Scaramouche rolled his eyes, finding the answer to the question blatantly obvious.
"yeah, two photos please" Kazuha replied
"that will be 180 mora please"
Kazuha took out a bag of coins and began swiftly counting them.
"I can pay half" Scaramouche offered
"no I want to pay" the poet responded
Once he handed the mora to the vendor the two stood on a small cross that was taped to the floor. Scaramouche stood stiffly unsure on how to pose. Kazuha stood next to him with a smile on his face.
"3...2...1"
As the vendor spoke, Kazuha suddenly turned to kiss the other's cheek just as the camera flashed. Scaramouche's eyes widened at the unexpected gesture, and he started blushing profusely.
"these are such nice photos" the vendor said once they came out
Kazuha went over to take a look, yet the wanderer seemed almost paralyzed, his heart racing. The poet soon came back to the other with two photos in his hand.
"here take this"
Scaramouche took the photo and looked over it. The vendor was right, it is a nice photo.
"Thank you" Scaramouche said trying to hold back a small smile
"Where should we go next?"
"we should just walk around and see what there is" Scaramouche suggested
Just as they were about to leave a voice rang out behind them.
"I haven't seen you two in a while"
they turned around seeing Childe walking up to them with Zhongli following close behind.
"I thought since you are here you would've come to see me at least once" he complained jokingly
"I was busy" Scaramouche replied
"hmm.. I guess that's acceptable" the ginger responded "since you're here for your boyfriend and not me"
"for the last time I am not dating Kazuha" the other said sounding irritated
"hey, Aether and Paimon are over there I'm going to talk to them" Kazuha spoke interrupting the pair.
Scaramouche didn't respond he only gave the other a look of acknowledgement. After Kazuha left, the remaining pair resumed their conversation.
"you do like Kazuha though don't you?" Childe asked
"what's it to you"
"hey I'm your friend, I'm supposed to know these things"
Scaramouche remained silent and averted his gaze. Childe's smile broadened as he already knew how much the other like Kazuha.
"We have things to be do" Childe said looking over to Zhongli who nodded in agreement.
"see you later"
As Childe walked away Scaramouche turned to look over to where Kazuha was. Overwhelmed, he watched for a while, unsure of what to think. Confusion clouded his mind, making him uncertain about how to handle his feelings.

"have you figured out if he likes you yet?" Paimon asked
"no I really can't tell no matter what" Kazuha responded "he's so reserved"
"I think you're overthinking it, you are both so oblivious to each others feelings" Aether answered
"huh.. what do you mean?"
"He likes you back, it's so insanely obvious to everyone around you" Paimon began "in fact we were talking to him earlier and he mentioned he knew about your confession plans"
"WHAT?" Kazuha exclaimed a sudden anxiety washing over him.
"he doesn't know who you are confessing to though" Aether explained "and he's convinced that he'll get in the way so that's why he was trying to avoid lantern rite"
"that reminds me, where even is he?" Paimon asked
"he's right over..." Kazuha turned around "there?"
when he looked over to where he originally left the other the space was empty.
"Oh.. Uh" Kazuha started panicking "where did he go?"
"Probably up there" Paimon pointed to the tallest hill by the harbour "he was planning on going up there earlier"
"I hope you're right" Kazuha replied "I've got to go"
The poet began sprinting towards the harbour's exit. He ran his lungs burning, the other couldn't have gone far at this point, he thought to himself. He got to the grass patch the two were sat at earlier that day wondering where Scaramouche was. He looked around his eyes searching rapidly.
He ascended the hill slightly to see if he could catch sight of the other, but he couldn't, he climbed higher and higher until he was nearly at the top.
Eventually he gave up and he tiredly sat down on a ledge that over looked the harbour.
"at least I'll get a good view of the fireworks" he mumbled to himself
He took some time to catch his breath, burying his face in his hands as he tried to hold back tears.
"This is all my fault I shouldn't have waited to say anything" he muttered wiping one of his eyes harshly "I shouldn't be crying over this"
Despite saying this, he continued to sniffle, tears welled up in his eyes once more, though they soon ran dry.
"Kazuha?"
The poet turned around quickly seeing Scaramouche standing behind him. He quickly stood up stumbling as he did so. Scaramouche subtly tried to reach his hand out afraid that the other would fall but quickly retracted it once Kazuha regained balance.
"what are you doing here?"
