"what are you doing here?"

Scaramouche stood waiting for an answer from the other.

"you disappeared and I was worried" Kazuha responded "Paimon told me you would be here"

"why did you come to find me?" Scaramouche asked suddenly agitated

Kazuha averted his eyes, a tinge of shame colouring his expression. It had been a few years since the other had spoken to him with such an annoyed tone.

"you are really confusing me" The wanderer started "I thought you had someone you like and yet you still do stuff like hold hands with me"

Kazuha opened his mouth to say something but the other cut him off quickly.

"It's really fucking confusing"

Scaramouche paused for a second before continuing, taking a deep breath.

"I like you but you are making it difficult for me, because I can't tell who you like"

"I love you" Kazuha blurted out "You're the one I was going to confess to"

"but I thought you liked Aether"

Kazuha paused to listen to the other's words before laughing softly, causing Scaramouche to turn away in embarrassment.

"him and Paimon were right" Kazuha said "I guess we are both oblivious"

Scaramouche awkwardly placed a hand on his neck as the other took a step forward, drawing nearer.

"I've been trying to hint at you all week that I liked you" Kazuha explained unable to contain his smile

"Oh.." Scaramouche replied not knowing what to say

"Since we both feel the same way.." Kazuha started his heart beginning to beat fast "will you be my boyfriend?"

"uh.. sure" The wanderer mumbled blushing hard "Sure"

The poet smiled widely at the other's response finding his mumbling cute. He held out a hand which Scaramouche took and they sat down together.

"everyone will be lighting Xiao lanterns soon" Kazuha commented

"I've got one"

"seriously!?"

"yeah"

Scaramouche took out a xiao lantern from his bag and placed it between them.
"we should light together" he suggested

They waited until they could see other lanterns beginning to float into the sky. Once it was lit the golden flames began flickering, the light danced across the pairs face. Their eyes met, sharing a gaze as they let the lantern ascend from there finger tips. It began to sway in the soft breeze pushing it towards the constellation of other lanterns from around the city.

"It's so pretty" Kazuha stared in awe

"yeah.." the other agreed his voice faint

"I'm relieved everything turned out well," the poet said, turning to face the wanderer. "I was afraid you wouldn't want to speak to me again."

Scaramouche stayed silent, he simply just rested his head on the other's shoulder whilst moving closer. Gradually, the wind carried the lanterns off, making everything fade into the nights darkness, with only the moon as a source of light. They sat in eager anticipation for the fireworks to begin.

There was soon a loud bang and colour filled the sky. Kazuha gasped at the suddenness but looked up, his eyes filled with wonder. Scaramouche smiled faintly gazing at the kaleidoscope of colours dancing in the sky. Each burst of colour faded leaving the lingering scent of gunpowder in the air. Laughter and applause echoed from below them in the city. The final firework made the sky erupt into a cascade of gold and silver. As the last one dissolved into stardust, they remained silent still in awe.
