"What?" I laughed nervously, running my hands through my hair agitatedly. "That can't be right. Let me try again. I only had it topped up an hour ago!"
I could feel my cheeks burning red with embarrassment, as I tapped my card down on the machine again.
"Sorry Miss, it's not a mistake..." she mumbled. "It's been declined again."
"No, this can't be right! My boss literally sent me an advance!" I gritted through clenched teeth.
I was doing my best to keep my composure, but my patience was wearing thin, and I could feel tears welling in my eyes again.
