The rest of the team had done well in the short time the three of them had gone off on their own, both against hordes of common Chitauri, and even a few leviathans in each of their own ways. So, besides a few stragglers here and there, all that remained was...
"LOKI!", Thor shouted, his deep voice booming angrily as he came to join the rest of the group all coming together against his brother. They reconvened at the base of the main building in the middle of the city, organizing their improvised team in front of the front door. "So, we need a quick way up there. Anyone have any ideas as to how the ones who can't fly-", Spartan was interrupted by Strange forming a portal. "Right.", he responded.
Stepping through, the whole group was immediately met with the one Drake heard them calling Loki, standing confidently, and staring at them all expectantly, atop the roof of this tower they'd all been at the ground-level off only seconds ago.
"I see you've grown desperate enough to stop me, that you'd recruit rabble off the street during your campaign against me.", the sly Asgardian mocked, referring to Spartan standing front and center with the rest of this era's heroes. He didn't respond, just staring their opponent down with the rest of his new team.
"Yeah, well, seemed the thing to do, Mr. and Mrs. Thunderhead here mentioned your bad habit of not staying down, so some added muscle sounded appropriate to make sure it sticks this time.", Stark fired back in confident, bordering on cocky, tone of voice.
"We've bested your army, brother. It is well-past time you admit defeat and come quietly.", Thor boomed stoically. Loki just laughed, and raised his scepter, the blue gem in it glowing brighter before firing a blast at him, which Spartan absorbed the shot with his energy shields, before drawing his Sidekick pistol, and firing the last few shots from the weapon at the Asgardian, who deflected the shots with the same weapon. "Your presence with the rest of these mortals and fools matters not.", Loki said mockingly.
Before anything else could be done, Loki looked over his shoulder as one of the last leviathans flew over the tower. "Smash them into the dirt!", he shouted, as three massive ape-like Chitauri leapt from the worm's back to land between the Avengers and Loki.
