Sana's room. 10:48 pm

Third person's POV

In the dimly lit  room, Sana slowly regained consciousness. Her head throbbed with an intensity that matched the rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor beside her. As she blinked away the haze of unconsciousness, fragments of memories started to piece together. The sensation of something striking her face, a sharp pain, and then darkness.

With a groan, Sana attempted to sit up, but a wave of dizziness swept over her. She lay back down, breathing deeply, trying to steady herself. The room came into focus, and she noticed her pink haired friend sitting by her bedside, her expressions a mixture of relief and worry.

"Hey, take it easy, girlie." she exclaimed.

"What happened?" she managed to croak out, her throat dry and scratchy.

"You got hit in the face by a volleyball," Agawa explained, her voice tinged with concern. "You've been unconscious for a few hours."

Sana's hand instinctively went to her forehead, feeling the tender spot where the impact had occurred. The memory flooded back to her—the sound of the ball hitting her, the searing pain, and then darkness swallowing her whole.

"Now that you've mentioned it, my head is throbbing and my face... erghhh." she groaned in pain.

"Well, it's not bad, right?" she asked again, not too exactly worried but just in case it took a turn for the worse.

"The nurse said you have a concussion." Agawa replied gently, "But she thinks you're going to be fine."

"Oh, that's good." Sana processed the information her friend gave her and suddenly remembered something that had almost happened in the infirmary with a specific volleyball team captain. Her ears reddened just thinking about her almost kiss with him.

"You seemed a little flushed. Are you getting a fever or something?" her friend put up his hand to her forehead to check her temperature.

"It's just a little hot in here. That's all." she tried to shrug it off t not worry her friend any longer.

"You sure? I mean Ushijima-san's spike was really powerful that it knocked you out. You probably could get a fever from your head concussion." she asked again.

Hearing the captain's name caused her heart to skip a beat, fiddling her fingers in nervousness, hoping that Agawa didn't notice what was going on.

"You have great taste in man, Yoshida! I mean seriously, he's handsome and you're pretty.  You should go for it!" she exclaimed excitedly while putting two of her hands in a fist respectively to show enthusiasm.

"I don't know what you're talking about, Agawa-san. You're just imagining it." Sana tried to deny her friend's statement. "Nothing is going on with me and Ushijima-san."

"I didn't even say it was Ushijima-san." she responded while putting her hands on her stomach, holding in a laugh. "I mean I was implying it, you then inferred it!"

"Damn, she got me!" Sana thought to herself. There was no way out of this so she just admitted it.

"I mean there is something about him that draws me to him." Sana admitted her feelings, proving Agawa's theory while grazing her cheeks, trying to hide her blush. "This is so embarrassing! Please don't tell anyone!"

"Well, well. Of course, I will!" the pink haired girl showed her pinkie, swearing to never tell another soul. But then she continued again. "But anyway, something must have happened in the infirmary that got you blushing like that! Come on, tell me!"

"Ummm we almost ummm you know in the movies what couples do to show their affection? Like on the lips?" Sana explained nervously, scared t be judged by her new friend.

"You mean kiss?" she said the word nonchalantly.

"Yeah, but you know, almost because you guys came. It was probably nothing."

"You both almost kissed and you said it was NOTHING? NO WAY!" Agawa said while her voice got gradually higher after hearing her pretty friend's dumb statement. "I'm sorry for ruining your moment by the way! If I knew, I would have not come in and dragged Goshiki too."

"It's fine, Agawa-san. It would have been more awkward if it happened. I wouldn't know how to handle it anyway." Sana told Agawa assuredly to not make her friend feel bad.

"It means you have a chance, Yoshida! He likes you, I can tell!" Agawa said and jumped up and down in excitement for her friend.

"I don't know, Agawa-san. That seemed a bit of a stretch, don't you think? We just met today." Sana chuckled slightly at Agawa's actions. She seemed more enthusiastic about the whole situation compared to Sana herself. (Not that I blame her because I'm also nosy like that skskskks)

"You can just start by getting to know each other first, you know? Texting first, then calling each other every night and maybe going on dates! Cafe dates, picnic dates like how cute is that? Since you're also a volleyball player and a setter coincidentally, you both can practice together too! You toss the ball and he spikes it, oh my god! OH MY GOD! That is super romantic!" Agawa started rambling, making hand gestures of those actions she mentioned while squealing like a mice.

"You're more invested in this than me, Agawa-san." she laughed looking at her friend, hyping her up to talk to a guy that she has a crush on.

Imaginations in her head running wild, trying to picture those moments while not being so obvious with it. Agawa is definitely feeding her delusions despite only meeting him for the first time.

Meeting Ushijima Wakatoshi felt kind of nostalgic for Sana. She felt like that she met him way before their cafeteria encounter.
