On the following day, you got dressed into your school uniform just before heading out to go talk to Genya before being discharged from the hospital. As you would be going back to school and his own was on the other side of the country, you wouldn't be able to talk to him face to face in a while, so you thought it better to talk now.

"Genya, are you ready to talk now?" You asked him as you stepped outside of your room.
"Yeah, but you may be disappointed with what I have to say." You tilted your head at that. "I'll start from the start...

"Shinazugawa! You have a mission with the Wind Hashira! Go to the Ubuyashiki Estate to -! CAWW!" The said male's messenger crow was cut off by the sudden gunshot that had only barely missed its beak.
"Just SHUT UP!!" The Shinazugawa growled at the animal as it flew away in fear for its life.

The boy had no interest in going on any missions with the person that he wished never to come across again. However, due to his respect for Ubuyashiki, he decided that he would just get it over with.

After a few hours, Genya found himself at his destination.
"Genya Shinazugawa is here! Genya Shinazugawa is here!"
As the said male approached the building, the kneeling figure of the wind hashira came into view just before a 'tch' was heard.

"Ah, Genya Shinazugawa, my child, how are you?" The master spoke.
"I am good. You are as well, I hope?" Said Genya, now sitting opposite the man as well, just less than a metre away from his brother.
"For the moment, although, the dissapearance of one of our own has left me distraught for the past week." Ubuyashiki began.
"Forgive me, master, but why can't I do this mission by myself?" The older Shinazugawa questioned, also not wanting to work with his assigned partner.

"Please understand that careful consideration was taken when electing who to go, as we now know that we are dealing with a bigger problem than we originally thought." He explained. "It was only last week when the mist hashira, (Y/N) Tokito, had been sent out on this very same mission, but due to reasons we are unaware of, has not returned and there has been no sign of her.

"The task you both have is to discover the origins and properties of the plant emitting the strange mist near the small village and try to find the missing hashira." Once the younger Shinazugawa was made aware of his mission, he only then realised how serious and long it was. He did not want to proceed with a mission that would take so much thought and time with his chosen companion, but unfortunately, the choice was not his to make.

Once the siblings had been dismissed, the older turned to the younger.
"Oi, weakling! Stay out of my way!"
"You say that as if I wanted to be anywhere near you!" The two continued to argue but still made their way to the village.

Upon arriving, they were shown to the forest where the mist came from and then left to deal with it. As the slayers gazed into the fog, they noticed just how dense it was.
"I'm going in; don't follow me!" Sanemi announced, preparing himself to enter the mist.

"Are you that stupid?! Another hashira went missing because of that, and you're just going to walk in?!" Genya yelled, just before receiving a heavy blow to the stomach.
"SHUT UP!" The older Shinazugawa exclaimed. "You are NO ONE to me! You have no say in my decisions!" The younger winced in pain for a moment before growling and pouncing onto his sibling.

From there, the fight escalated as the two exchanged many punches and kicks, tumbling and rolling deeper into the mist until Sanemi eventually began to start slipping out of consciousness. Genya, feeling a sudden pang of some sort of emotion, picked up his still fighting brother and began to make his way out of the fog.
"Don't lay your FILTHY HANDS on ME!" The older yelled, but as he breathed in more of the mist, he started to get weaker.
