Talia
The wind filled my ears and whipped my long black hair all around. It felt like I was falling forever, but in reality, it was only 5 seconds. And for those 5 seconds, I felt entirely at peace. It was riveting. I was snapped out of my daydream when I landed on a springy bed that I bounced off of and back down until it settled. It was a net that caught me. I couldn't wipe the grin off my face. The net dipped to the side as a pair of hands grabbed me and helped me off the net. In front of me was another tall and handsome man. Jesus. Is every male here so attractive? "Were you pushed?" He asked me, his voice was equally as handsome as his face. I scoffed at him. "No. I fell. Backwards." I said with a smirk on my face. He chuckled. "What's your name? You can pick a new one if you want, but make it good. It'll become your permanent one." "Talia," I said to him. "First jumper, Talia!" He announced to the others who were standing in the room. "Welcome to Dauntless." I smiled at him in thanks and stood off to the side as we waited for everyone else to come down from the roof.
Liv was the second jumper and like he did with me, Tall and Handsome helped her down too. They, however, seemed like they didn't want to look away from each other. When they did eventually break the gaze, Liv came and stood next to me. I gave her a look and her cheeks started to turn pink. I smirked at her and looked away. Waiting for the other transfers and Dauntless-born initiates to come down.
What was crazy was the fact that we hadn't even known each other for more than an hour and we were acting like we'd known each other for years. It felt amazing to already have a friend like this, but I was still wary of it. Eventually, everyone had come down from the roof, Eric however was nowhere to be seen. Jeez Talia, you just met the guy. Why are you so worried about him and where he is? I shook it off and decided to pay attention. "Dauntless born, go with Lauren, transfers stay with me" Tall and Handsome said. The girl standing next to him started to gather the Dauntless-born together and then they left. "Most of the time I work in intelligence, but during your training, I'll be your instructor. My name's Four." He said as he scanned over our group. Probably trying to see who's gonna last and who won't. His gaze on Liv lasted longer than the rest of us. There were 14 of us in total. Liv and I were the only female transfers. Three guys from Candor, four from Erudite, one from Abnegation, and Chase. I guess it gave Liv and me more reason to stick together and to work extra hard.
One of the boys from Candor scoffed. "Four like the number?" "Exactly like the number." Four responded with a steady tone of voice. "What happened, one through three were taken?" He laughed as he looked at a couple of the guys surrounding him. Four stepped up in his face, with a chuckle. "What's your name?" "Ryan." "Well, Ryan... the first lesson you learn from me, if you wanna survive here, you keep your mouth shut. Do I make myself clear?" Candor boy, now known as Ryan, was now looking at Four with fear. His amusement is now gone. He meekly nodded and Four continued with whatever he was saying. Liv and I chuckled and we continued with the tour.
..........
We followed Four through the compound. Neon lights shine their way throughout the tour, with the occasional shine of regular lighting and natural daylight too. He led us to what's known as The Pit. People were down there, talking, laughing, and play fighting with each other. It was amazing. "This is the center of life here at Dauntless. This is where people come to hang out and go out for their daily needs. Along with shopping and the tattoo parlor."
