Ryan put his hands on his knees and keeled over as he tried to regain his breath, James almost threw up, Jennifer collapsed and just lay on the ground for a few moments and Lucas felt his heartbeat racing.
They noticed Thomas making his way over to them.
"Well, what's all the commotion? You guys look like piles of hippo shit." Thomas sniggered, but it was all in a friendly manner. He helped Jennifer off the floor and patted James' back.
"There was... some Charcoalasaurus after us-" James tried speaking in between breaths.
"Carcharodontosaurus" Jennifer interrupted.
"Yeah, that."
"Idiot." Ryan joined in, standing up fully once he regained his lungs. "It caught a few of our guys on the way back.""Hey everyone, how did the expedition go?" Aaron approached them with a smile on his face, looking at each one of them individually before the smile dropped. "That bad, huh?"
"Well not THAT bad. But pretty bad, yeah." Lucas responded.
"We got plenty of silica pearls but the food was a total dud, a Megalodon attacked the boats, destroying two of them and tearing up the nets. We'll have to go back out, or go somewhere considering its getting to winter soon." Ryan told Aaron who now had a disappointed look on his face."I'm sorry about the food sir, there was nothing I could do. In fact if it wasn't for Ryan then I would also be dead."
"Don't apologise Jennifer, it was nobodies fault. You guys were just in the path of a really hungry shark." Aaron smiled at her, before changing the topic. "Anyway, in other news Connor and his lot fetched us the the Artifact of the Skylord, what we believe to be the final artifact on the island. Which means soon enough, we'll have ourselves a Dragon to fight.""I feel like a dragon is a slight jump from a big monkey sir." James pointed out, to which the rest agreed.
"Yeah it is, but we are running out of options here. We have to know whats next. But we may have a clue."
"And what's that?" Jennifer asked, curious to what new information there was."Recent surveys from a team atop the volcano who are collecting obsidian, have reported back to us. There is a gate inside the volcano, it looks an awful lot like the same technology used to make the obelisks, and these futuristic sci-fi looking rifles."
"Maybe there's something bigger going on here." Ryan theorised, making the rest of them turn to him. "Like surely this is no coincidence. What if we have been purposefully put here by someone, or something. And they've created all these barriers to stop us getting out. Maybe this volcano is the key to our escape."
"Or, maybe it's nothing. I mean, maybe it's just another tribe. Or say we were all put here, it may not necessarily be an escape, it could just be where whoever runs this lives." Thomas replied cautiously, as much as he hoped it would be a way out."Maybe it's both." Aaron decided to get in on the theories. "But you are right, we have absolutely no idea, so we'll just have to find out. Apparently, at this entrance, there is a panel with three slots, one green, one blue and one red. I believe each of these slots represents one of the guardians. The green is the Broodmother, blue is the Megapithecus and red will be the Dragon. Which means we have to defeat it before trying the volcano."
"And when are we going to do that?"
"You guys should rest first, we can head to the obelisk first thing in the morning."
"Sounds good."
