Joel's POV - 3rd person
Etho hated him, that's for sure.
If only Joel hadn't killed that cow, maybe Etho wouldn't hate him.
.
Joel had been walking around with Jimmy, until he came across Tango, Impulse, Skizz, Scott, and Etho.
He was in a boat.
With a cow.
There was a fire in Joel's eyes, a lump in his throat, a burning hatred in his stomach; but why? This wasn't Double Life, Etho had every right to move on, and so does Joel, so why does he have this feeling? Why does he feel so jealous of a cow? Why does he feel so jealous of seeing something else in a boat with Etho?
"Oh it's Joel!" the others said, but Joel could only focus on the boat. "If he sees a cow in a boat, he'll go for it," Scott said. This brightened Joel's mind. "Get that cow. Get the cow, Joel," Jimmy encouraged, Joel already running nearer towards Etho and his cow. "Oh I'm going for it," he said darkly.
"No, Joel, don't you dare," Etho replied. Etho rowed away with the boat, until Joel shouted out. "How could you replace me with a cow, Etho?!" Joel cried out, making Etho stop. To the others, it might seem like a joke, but to Joel, it seemed very real. "At least he keeps me company," Etho sneered, both boys looking straight at each other.
It seemed like the whole world got quiet. Joel scoffed, then turned around towards Jimmy. "Um, are you guys setting up here by the way?" Jimmy asked. "Yes, I'm actually going to live in the ocean," Scott said pointing towards the vast ocean. "Oh, for goodness sakes, I had the idea of living in the ocean!" Joel groaned.
"Yea, cus we're the Bad Boys, and we were going to set up here," added Jimmy, while Scott shrugged. "Oh, so you're gonna make a boat with another friend, huh Joel?" said Etho, making Joel turn around. Joel quietly growled, taking his bow out and an arrow in his other hand.
"I thought we were the boat boys," Etho said, making Joel shoot. He missed, whether it was on accident or not. "Hey! Don't shoot the cow!" Etho snapped, rowing farther from Joel.
Joel took a deep breath, despite Etho's remarks, and shot another arrow. It hit the cow and the cow died. Everyone shouted in shock. "YES!" Joel laughed, meaning he succeeded in killing the cow, as he ran off.
"Wait, I'm cooking my steak!" Jimmy yelled, Joel laughing and running off. "Sorry rancher, bye!" Jimmy laughed, following Joel shortly after he packed up. Etho rowed to shore and ran after Joel. "You have made a mortal enemy, Joel!" Etho shouted, Jimmy's "Just go!"'s overlapping his voice.
"Anything that is precious to you will be sniped!" Etho yelled, voice getting quieter as the Bad Boys ran off.
.
There was no more Boat Boys, or Smalletho, or Rocket Boys; Etho hated him, and that was Joel's consequence of killing their precious cow. More precious than me, Joel had thought, but shook it away.
It was late at night, and Joel was sitting on the Bad Boys Manor, legs dangling off the edge. He sighed, looking into the stars above. He heard footsteps, but didn't bother to turn around; he already knew who it was.
Jimmy, and their latest recruit, Grian, approached Joel with concern on their face. "Joel are you ok? You seem different after our encounter with Team TIES-" Jimmy began, "NO, OF COURSE I'M NO OK!" Joel interrupted, yelling with tears in the corners of his eyes.
Jimmy and Grian flinched at Joel's sudden snap, but they both expected this. "Sorry, I... ugh," Joel apologized, then groaned of frustration. Jimmy and Grian sat alongside of Joel, Joel being in the middle. "Don't apologize. What's wrong?" Grian asked.
"Etho hates me now, Grian. Jimmy knows. Maybe if I hadn't killed that stupid cow, and my stupid jealousy hadn't gotten in the way, he wouldn't hate me," Joel said, his voice breaking on 'stupid'.
The other 2 Bad Boys looked at Joel, then each other, then nodded. "C'mon," Grian sighed, getting up, Jimmy doing the same. They picked Joel up, who whined and protested the whole time. "To where?!" Joel complained, Jimmy and Grian practically dragging him.
"To Etho."

Etho's POV - 3rd person
Etho sighed, looking up into the stars. Would things have been different if he didn't row with that cow? Would Joel not hate him then?
Etho looked up, noticing the sound of footsteps and voices. He grasped his axe tightly.
"Stop! Go back!" One of the voices complained. "No! You and Etho are gonna talk, Joel!" Another said, Etho's grip loosening at the mention of Joel's name. Jimmy and Grian appeared, apparently with new clothing. Joel was behind them, both his hands held by Jimmy and Grian as he struggled and squirmed. If Etho was going to be honest, Joel looked hot in his Bad Boys apparel.
"We'll leave you to it," Jimmy said, letting go of Joel's hand as well as Grian. They quickly ran off, Joel trying to folllow. "UGH, FUCK YOU BOTH!" He yelled, the other 2 Bad Boys running somewhere in the forest.
Etho put his axe away, Joel turning around to face Etho. His expression immediately got uncomfortable.
It's like the world around them didn't exist. It was Etho and his Joel. No, not my Joel, Etho thought, absurd at his own self. "So, what are you doing here?" Etho asked, unsure of what to say.
It was silent. Dead silent. "Um, I'm sorry Etho," Joel choked out, Etho gazing down on him softly. "For what? I should be sorry," Etho countered. "Of course I'm sorry! For killing your cow. I understand that you hate me. You shouldn't be sorry for anything," Joel said. Etho frowned behind his mask, but Joel would never know that.
"Joel, I don't hate you. Why would you think I hate you?" Etho asked, walking slowly, but surely, towards Joel. Joel had started crying. "I- I just let my stupid jealousy get ahead of me. I- I thought you moved on, because I haven't," Joel mumbled, hugging himself as tears trickled down his face.
Etho hugged Joel tightly, Joel crying in his chest (since he was way shorter), as Etho hushed him. "I would never move on, Joel; not now, not ever," Etho whispered, making sure Joel heard. Back in Double Life, the idea of having Joel as a soulmate didn't exactly brighten him in the beginning, especially because of Martyn's speculations. But Etho never knew it would be so fun and lovely to have Joel as a soulmate, his chaotic other half; he was too important for Etho to ever move on from.
"You're my Boat Boy, Joel, I would never replace you, especially with a cow," Etho muttered, laughing. "So would I, Etho. I wouldn't build another ship with another person," Joel said, both of them still hugging.
