Of course, he watched from the shadows. Neuvillette's heart raced as he watched Y/n and Wriothesley talking that night. He knew that he should give her space, that he should trust her judgment. But the sight of them together filled him with a deep, gnawing jealousy.
Without thinking, Neuvillette approached her in the comfort of her temporary home with Navia, his expression cold and unreadable. "Y/n," he said, his voice tinged with a hint of possessiveness. "Would you care to accompany me for the day?"
Y/n hesitated, sensing the tension in Neuvillette's demeanor. But she knew that she couldn't refuse him, not when he looked at her with such intensity.
As they walked through the city, Neuvillette was unusually close to Y/n, his touch possessive and lingering. He held her hand tightly, as if afraid that she would slip away from him.
Y/n tried to ignore the uncomfortable feeling in the pit of her stomach. She knew that Neuvillette was acting out of desperation, but she couldn't help but feel suffocated by his constant presence.
As Neuvillette and Y/n walked through the streets of Fontaine, they suddenly bumped into a crowd gathered around a street performer. Neuvillette's grip on Y/n tightened, a flash of jealousy crossing his face as he watched the magician, Lyney, charming the crowd with his tricks.
"Would you care for a demonstration, mademoiselle?" Lyney asked, his eyes twinkling with mischief as he singled out Y/n from the crowd. With a flourish, he performed a dazzling trick, making a flower appear out of thin air and presenting it to Y/n with a bow.
Y/n blushed, taken aback by the unexpected gesture. Neuvillette, sensing the tension, stepped forward, his voice cold and clipped. "Excuse us, Mr. Lyney, we must be going now. Thank you for the lovely performance, but we best be on our way."
With that, Neuvillette ushered Y/n away, his jaw clenched with barely concealed anger. Y/n glanced back at Lyney, feeling a pang of guilt at leaving so abruptly. But she knew that Neuvillette's jealousy was getting the best of him, and she didn't want to escalate the situation further.
As they walked away from Lyney, Y/n couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled over her. She turned to Neuvillette, her voice tinged with concern. "Neuvillette, what's going on? You've been acting very strange today."
Neuvillette's expression hardened, his arm now wrapping around her shoulders. "I don't know what you're talking about, Y/n. I'm just trying to protect you."
"Protect me from what?" Y/n asked, her frustration growing. "You're suffocating me, Neuvillette. I need space to breathe."
Before Neuvillette could respond, Wriothesley appeared beside them, his demeanor dangerous and flirtatious. "Is everything alright, babe?" he asked, his eyes fixed on Y/n.
Y/n felt a wave of confusion wash over her. Wriothesley had never called her such endearments before, and she wasn't sure how to respond. She glanced at Neuvillette, who was glaring at Wriothesley with undisguised anger.
Furina, who had been passing by, stopped in her tracks, her eyes widening in surprise at the scene unfolding before her. She watched in silence as Wriothesley continued to flirt with Y/n, oblivious to Neuvillette's growing fury.
Neuvillette's eyes flashed with anger as he stepped closer to Y/n, his voice low and menacing. "You have no idea what's out there, Y/n. I'm just trying to keep you safe."
Y/n's frustration boiled over, her own voice rising. "I don't need you to protect me, Neuvillette! I need you to trust me!"
Wriothesley watched the exchange with a smirk, clearly enjoying the tension between them. "Oh, but I think Neuvillette has a point, darling," he interjected, stepping even closer to Y/n. "It's a dangerous world out there, and someone as precious as you needs all the protection they can get."
Neuvillette's jaw clenched at Wriothesley's words, his fists tightening at his sides. "Stay away from her, Wriothesley," he growled, his tone warning.
But Wriothesley just laughed, the sound mocking. "Or what, Neuvillette? You'll fight me for her? Surely I think we both know who she'd choose."
Y/n, caught in the middle of their argument, felt a surge of anger and confusion. She looked at the two of them. "Why are you two always doing this to me? Both of you are constantly fighting with another over stupid things!" She continued her confrontation at the two, "Didn't the two of you used to be close friends? What happened to you two?!"
The three of them froze as Furina continued to watched the chaos unfold beneath her eyes, her expression unreadable. She was confused to say the least. But she knew that things were about to get even more twisted and puzzling between Y/n, Neuvillette, and Wriothesley.
