JUNGKOOK POV
The two and a half hour
drive had been quite nice.I'd started out in the daylight
but by the time I pulled into
the driveway of the park's residence in the mountain
town of busan, darkness
had descended already.I hadn't been sure what to expect, entering the community of the Lee cult but was pleased to note that it wasn't some gated, barbed wire fenced commune with guard towers about the perimeter.
Instead, it looked like any ordinary small town,
population 2021, with quaint little stores along Main Street including a grocer, a barber,
two gas stations as well as
signs for a farmer's market. The largest store taking up almost a half a block was
called God's Gifts.Train tracks ran parallel to
Main.The houses were nestled on
nice estates, quite upscale. As my car topped a rise I
saw, off in the distance, a
fully lit up castle or what
looked like a castle. It had to be the church.
It was quite ethereal on the horizon, very Olympian in the way it looked down over the town.
Hobi and I had researched
the cult as much as we could before my trip. They were quite insular, staying to themselves but they did
deal with the outside world
for business and goods. But for the marriage and
mating of an omega from
their sect, why employ
Perfect Match? Why go outside their faith?
My mind struggled to get the
full picture and I'd lost sleep
over this question all last night.Hobi had speculated, "This
kid is going into his first heat
and he needs to leave.""You have the means to get
him away."Instinct told me he was right.
The cult did accept new
members but only after
rigorous training and ritual. They were peaceful enough, didn't proselytize and had
never triggered any media
or government worries. But that didn't alleviate my discomfort.
This omega was different if
he was looking for a mate
as a means to leave.Instead of keeping him as
a member, they wanted him gone.I pulled up the drive and
parked alongside some lovely hedgerows, all abloom. The big house loomed in
front of me.It was a very long and large
two-story with gabled windows, some on the second level
golden, lit from within. But the first floor was entirely dark except for outside houselights leading up to
the porch and one window flickering as if the light in that room came from a fireplace. It was nine-forty-five.
My timing couldn't have been more perfect.
I got out of my car and
walked up the steps to
the massive porch.Bench swings creaked in a low breeze on either side of the double doored entry.
Flowers bloomed from ceramic pots, Everything smelled
fresh and sweet.I still felt odd about coming to meet my omega match so
late at night. My phone vibrated in my
pocket.
