"Please honey, if you ever make anything in the oven, turn it off afterward. Always double, triple check if it's completely off! We have too many expensive flammable things in the house that I'd hate to lose, but I probably don't need in the first place. If there's a fire, call us first then 911!"
"Don't open the doors for strangers-- unless they're offering you money, then open it. Beggars can't be choosers, you know."
"And don't forg--"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah... When the freak is this over?" I asked, completely and utterly BORED out of my mind!
Today was the day my parents had planned to set off to the Bahamas to celebrate their 30th anniversary. They were oh-so excited about this for continuous months on end– which was a pretty annoying and insufferable continuous months for me– and yet they're sitting here yippee-yapping about all the stuff I've heard millions of times before! When does the torture end?!
"ALICE." my mom screamed, snapping me out of my thoughts quickly and effectively. "Were you even listening?" she asked, disappointment tainting her voice with each word she spoke. "We're trying to make sure you keep yourself safe while we're gone!"
"I've heard all this before!" I said, very clearly ANNOYED. "Just get out of here already, you've got a vacation waiting!"
My mom glanced at my dad, and he put a hand on her shoulder.
"Now, honey," my dad began. "I think our little girl is old enough. We should get going before we miss our flight!"
My mom sighed, loudly, then responded.
"Fine, if you say so... Alice, don't forget to call us every night before bed!"
"Kar--" my dad started before my mom rudely cut him off.
"-And you're always welcome to call Legacy, or your brother if anything happens, they'll eventually come check on you whenever they feel like it. And if you need anything, you already know Hades lives right across from us so you can beg their mom for anything." She kissed my cheek. "Alright love you!"
"Take care, darling!" my dad kissed my forehead.
"Ugk!" I spat, rubbing their kisses away with my sleeves. "Ok. Bye. Love you."
My mom and dad left through the garage door, and I heard their prized lamborghini starting up. I rubbed my hands evilly, mumbling under my breath. Wonderful... I looked out the window, watching them pull out of the driveway and drive away completely out of sight. Now, it's time to get down to business, baby! I hopped on the family computer almost immediately, browsing through endless pages of Lululemon's endless catalog. Of course, I began ordering everything all I could ever want in a lifetime with the credit card my parents had left me. What? Yeah, it's for food and whatever(who really cares), but I can always beg the neighbors and my uncle for money!
But, as I was lost in thought about all this gorgeous clothing, there was a random desktop notification. Huh... That's weird. I hesitantly opened it, seeing that the notification was from an unknown email address. What the freak? There was an image zip file. And like you always do to zip files, according to keyboard class, you unzip it. So that's what I did. To my shock and horror, the image was of some unrecognizable person's gory body, twisted in ways you'd never imagine.
Blood seeped into a puddle beneath this mysterious body, and by the looks of it, it must be... fresh?
Their head was completely smashed into the floor, and I wondered– is... is it even a human?
There was a caption too...
"C U Soon!"
Unable to process this I let out a horrified shriek I think anyone could've heard all across Brookhaven...
"aaaaaaaAAAAAHHHHHH!"
