It's been a while since confronting Chris. I've been drowning myself in work and visiting Theo. So much so my dad was starting to worry about me. I don't really have a lot of friends... to be honest I have only one. Louisa was my one and only friend. We grew up together and never left each other's side. She's studying in the US currently. It's hard being apart but she's supporting me through my hard time as much as she possibly can.

Today was court day. I was standing in my childhood room at my parents their house. My parents have been sleeping in separate rooms ever since their fight. I looked in the mirror at my outfit. A black skirt and a black top.

I paired the outfit with a pair of Louboutin heels and did my hair in a slick ponytail

I paired the outfit with a pair of Louboutin heels and did my hair in a slick ponytail. A knock on my door pulled me out of my thoughts and i saw my dad peak around the corner.

"Breakfast is ready princess."

"Coming."

"Take your time. You look beautiful..."

"Thank you dad."

Our bond has never been this strong and as he closed the door I had to suppress my smile a little bit. He really was the light in my darkness. A real girl-dad. I grabbed my bag with my files and walked downstairs. I sat down at the table as my parents had already started eating breakfast. The silence was loud. Like really loud. I normally enjoyed silence but for the first time in forever I really wanted someone to speak up.

"How late do you wanna leave the house dad?"

"Well we have to be in court around 9AM. Maybe leave in 20 minutes?"

"Sounds perfect to me."

He gave me a smile and a nod from across the table. My mother sat on the head of the table eyeing the both of us.

"Court? Frank would you care to explain all this non sense I'm hearing?"

"We're going to court to file a restraining order against Christopher as well as try and split their belongings. Christopher isn't willing to work this out the easy way so we've decided to take this up a notch."

My mother her face turned bright red as a tomato as she looked between my father and I.

"You're going behind my back now as well!"

She stood up abruptly and smacked her hands against the wooden table. The loud smack triggered something in me and I immediately shrunk in my seat covering my head with my arms. I felt my body trembling and my breaths became shaky.

"Hey hey hey princess. It's alright. Nothing will happen to you. You're safe."

I lowered my arms and looked between my parents. My mother her face changed. For the first time in my whole life... she looked worried. She calmly sat down and looked at me.

"Adelaide-Isadora?"

I met her eyes again and her eyes started watering a little bit.

"Did he do that to you? The way you react... is it his fault?"

"Yes mother..."

She took in a sharp breath almost like the answer pained her. She swallowed as she looked at my father and back at me.

"I'm so sorry darling... I'm so sorry I forced you to be with him and stay with him. I might not be the best mother but this was never meant to happen. This would never be my intention."

I looked at my dad. He looked a little confused too. I looked back at my mother who genuinely seemed to care all of a sudden.

"I won't forgive you that easily mother... but I do appreciate it. Thank you."

She gave me a soft nod before she softly left the dinning room. I swallowed and looked at my father. He shrugged his shoulders before he continued eating again.

I was placing out all my things on the court table. My father sat next to me as Christopher and his lawyer walked into the court room. I felt my whole body started to tense. I hated the effect he had on me. He walked towards me and my father stood up behind me.

"Stay away from my daughter Christopher."

"I really need to talk to her sir."

"Not happening."

"Please... she's the love of my life I can't lose her!"

"I'm not the love of your life Christopher. People shouldn't treat other people that way. That's everything except love."

He looked at me and his expression hardened.

"This was your last escape honey. Now you're stuck in this room until I get it my way!"

He turned sharply on his heels and walked away. I looked at my father and sighed trying to keep myself calm. I sat down and waited for the case to start. It went by fast and this was the perfect moment to present the judge with video material of Christopher abusing me.

"Your honor. If I may. I would like to present you some video evidence of how Mr.Alanham would physically and mentally harm me."

I handed them a USB-stick and when I turned around to walk back to my seat, I looked at Chris. His expression told me miles. He knew he was fucked. His lawyer rubbed his hands over his face and mumbled some words underneath his breath that I didn't catch. The video was played on a big tv and it kind of did hurt to see myself on a screen being that vulnerable. You could hear Chris yelling all kinds of things about me as well as him beating me.

"Do you still have some of the aftermath?"

"Yes your honor."

I lifted my sleeve slightly and the purple mark on my wrist was Chris his mark.

"I think we've seen and heard enough to make the call. Mr.Alanham... you are here by declared guilty to harming Miss Harrington. You'll be getting a restraining order and a fine to pay for her mental and physical therapies. Miss Harrington, you may use the money of the fine for however suits you best."

I smiled softly as I nodded at the judge. I hugged my father as I felt relieved. Chris was silent as he stormed out of the court room. This was all finally over! I was free from Chris! I looked around the court room when my eyes caught a particular person. His eyes looked at me with gentleness all lingered up with politeness. A soft smile on his lips... George Russell.
