Third person pov.

Jennie's eyes narrow into dangerous slits, her lips curling into a cruel smile like always as she takes a step closer to Lisa. The space between them feels suffocating, filled
with the weight of Jennie's anger.

"You think you're so brave, don't you?" Jennie's voice is low and warning, each word dripping with contempt. she put a hand on Lisa's shoulder as if she was making sure that the raven won't fly away.

Rose was watching the debate from a far distance. She heard their conversation clear crystal and knew within a few minutes Lisa would have the same fate as the girl in the maze. Just how much could Lisa be stupid to be here and argue with Jennie.

"I'm not brave because if I was, I would've slapped you by now." Lisa was so dead, and she knew it, but somehow deep down, she wanted to believe that maybe a miracle could save her. how funny that a deal for money had gotten her in such horrible places.

Lisa felt it when Jennie removed her hand from her, and she unknowingly closed her eyes. Waiting.

Several seconds passed, and nothing. Lisa slowly began to open her eyes, and she saw something standing in front of her, a familiar figure.

Lisa was faced with the person's back. She moved a little to see that her savior was none other than Rose.

"Please, Madam Kim, let me take care of her." Rose said, almost begging. She never thought she cared that much about Lisa. She wanted to believe she didn't, but here she was defending her.

Jennie took a step closer, narrowing her eyes slowly. Her face was bored and emotionless. Rose is standing up for that little rat, How cute. She thought to herself.

"Clear the room now. Everyone." Jennie commanded loud and clear. Everyone left without one second hesitation, choosing the smart option.

"Park, you stay out of this," Jennie looked at Rose, then she calmly pushed her out of her way to Lisa. "Or you can join Lisa in the maze."

"You know how I'm always a fan of democracy, so choose." Kim's face was still emotionless, but beneath she was excited. What would Park do?

"Please, Ma'am, she made a mistake, a terrible one. Sending her into the maze is not different from killing her right now." Rose was terrified. She felt her cold sweats running down her forehead.

"So you choose the maze?" Jennie asked.

"She's been your assistant all this time, and you don't mind killing her?" Lisa interrupts.

"Shut up, Lisa." Rose said immediately. Her loyalty was not for a reward. It was a must for her.

"Madam Kim, I choose whatever is your decision for me. If you wish to send Lisa inside the maze, then I'll go with her. But if you still value my services, then I will take this insolent rude girl out of your sight right away."

Jennie closed the distance between Park and herself. Not so excited anymore. She crassed Park's cheeks with her hands. A very unfamiliar gesture in their dynamic.

"This will be the first and last time I save a life for you." She then held Park's face firmer. She gave Lisa a side eye, and she left the room, already late for another thing. But before she leaves, she turns her head one last time.

"Lisa, don't you think I'll forget tonight."

Right after Jennie left, Rose let out the breath she was holding in. She hit Lisa's head.
