It had been a few days since they had all settled in. Bucky and Cameron had finally taken their bikes and they had all found a better hiding place for their jets. They had even started decorating a bit more the houses, since they were going to stay there for a while, at least they hoped they would.
It felt kinda strange to actually live a normal life after everything they had been through, especially for Cameron and Bucky. But that didn't make it hard or awkward, they were just trying to live every moment at their best.
It was a sunny morning when Cameron woke up panting slightly. She could feel her heart beating fast and a few tears forming in her eyes. She kept breathing hard as she tried to calm herself down. She could feel her powers running through her veins.
In the last days ever since she first thought about all of that while training, she had been having nightmares. Thankfully they had never been as bad as they used to be at Hydra, but that night it was really bad.
It was about one of the first times Hydra made her try her powers. She still couldn't control them and ended up killing innocent people, their blood was on her skin and she could feel her whole body burning. And when she woke up she had the exact same feeling and it was taking a bit too long to wash away.
Bucky immediately woke up when he felt Cameron stand up like that. He brought himself up and softly called her name. When she didn't turn to him he softly placed his hand on her cheek and turned her face. He could see how her eyes had turned to that purple color and he could also see the tears on her cheeks.
"Hey, it's okay", he softly whispered to her and embraced her softly in his arms. She immediately hugged him back, almost holding on for dear life.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to, I'm sorry", she kept repeating between sobs and he just held her tighter.
After a while she finally calmed down, she could feel her heart going to its normal rate and that awful burning feeling washing away from her body and her eyes turned to their normal colour.
"Is it always the same?", he asked her, already knowing about her nightmares.
"Yeah, but it was the first time and it was much worse", she told him with a small voice.
Bucky sighed softly and slowly pulled away. He took her face in his hands and softly smiled at her. He slowly leaned on her and began trailing soft kisses where her dried tears were on her cheeks.
Cameron smiled softly at him as he pulled back and he moved to softly wipe away the remaining tears. He knew how she felt and he wished he could do something for her, but he unfortunately he couldn't. But he could still try to keep her mind off everything.
"Why don't we go for a ride? Finally explore the city?", he asked her after a while.
"Yeah, alright", she replied with a small voice, but a genuine smile as she looked up at him. As she looked into his bright blue eyes she spoke up again. "Thank you."
"You don't need to thank me. You know I would do anything for you", he told her softly and truthfully and she smiled at him.
After a while they got ready and had some breakfast before walking out of the house. Bucky was wearing a long sleeve t-shirt with a black jacket and some black pants. Cameron wore some black jeans with a pair of long black boots, on top a dark green long sleeved t-shirt and a leather jacket she stole from Bucky.
They walked to Bucky's motorcycle and he hopped on first before nodding behind him. Cameron rolled her eyes but eventually went to sit behind him on the bike, she didn't really feel like driving anyway. They put on their black helmets and Bucky started the engine and drove off.
They drove through the empty roads for a while until they finally reached the city. They still weren't actually inside Amsterdam and it took a while to get there. When they arrived the streets became gradually more crowded.
When they reached the centre of the city, Bucky stopped the motorcycle and Cameron hopped off first, him following closely. They removed their helmets and put them in the trunk and then began walking.
They held each other's hands as they walked, Bucky feeling comfortable enough around Cameron to let her hold his metal one, but he still wore gloves to not freak out anybody that saw him.
The sun shined brightly, but it was still a bit cold, which didn't really affect the two since they had spent enough time in Russia and even colder places.
They walked for a while until they came across a flower shop. Cameron's dark brown eyes lit up when she saw some irises exposed out of the shop. She let go off Bucky's hand and reached the purple flowers. She bent down and began to softly trace the colourful petals of the flowers.
Bucky walked to her with furrowed brows and when he reached her he bent down with her.
"I fell in love with these flowers when I was in St. Petersburg with Yelena, Natasha and Alexei. We went through this massive field filled with irises. I didn't know why they attracted me so much, but then I found out from Dreykov that my mother's grave was in a field of irises", she began explaining with a small smile on her face. "Maybe he was just lying to provoke me, but I can't help but think about my mother when I look at them."
Bucky looked at her with a soft gaze. She had told him everything about what she had found out about her mother.
"They're beautiful", he told her softly, his gaze not entirely directed to the flower.
"Yeah", she replied with a small voice as she kept looking at the flowers.
"Come on", he suddenly said and stood up. Cameron furrowed her brows as she slowly followed him as he walked inside the shop. Before she knew it he had bought a bouquet of irises for her. When they walked out he gave it to her, a smile on his face when he looked at her shocked brown eyes.
"God, Bucky you shouldn't have", she told him as she took the bouquet in her hands.
"It's the least I can do. I wanna make you happy", he told her softly and truthfully. Cameron smiled brightly at him and softly placed one hand on the back of his neck and brought him down before pulling him in a kiss. When they finally pulled apart they rested their foreheads against each other as they chuckled softly. When they separated they began walking around the city again, enjoying their time together.
