"It's no use going back to yesterday because I was a different person then."

I tried to enter the bedroom quietly but it was no use as Jyothika was up already.

At least, there she seemed to be. She was in her night clothes one of my T-shirts and her pajamas. Her hair was exactly like a replica of a bird's nest. She was yawning a little obnoxiously and her right hand reached for the glass on the nightstand. Finding it empty, she grumbled and glared at the glass as if it were its fault.

My lips settled in a smile. I still found this weird human damn attractive.

"You didn't sleep the entire night? I was waiting for you but I guessed I slept off," she winces and massages her neck. I immediately felt bad for her. "Go and get me a glass of water. Coffee bhi,"

Just like that, my morning lovey-dovey mood for her was gone.

"Subah subah apne pati ko orders dete hua sharam nahi aati,"

{Don't you feel any shame for ordering your husband around first thing in the morning itself?}

She shook her head. I sighed, getting on my side of the bed, and ignoring her shriek, I tucked her in my arms for a much-needed sleep.

"Raj, leave me!"

"Never," I caught her hand that was about to hit me. She opened her mouth to scold me and I shut it with a chaste kiss. "I talked with him about Ma,"

She took a moment at my abrupt information. Then her eyes widened and later softened with affection, "How do you feel now?" I wish I could answer her. But my mind was a little mess though my heart was at peace. She didn't push me for a response. Placing a soft kiss on my forehead, she grazed my jaw, "I'm proud of you and we can talk about it whenever you want, okay?"

I nodded and tried to sleep. I'd have been sleeping if not for her annoying poking on the side of my head. "I'm not feeling sleepy, move,"

I threw one of my legs over hers, "Too bad for you,"

"You're going to pay for manhandling me as your stuffed toy!"

I hummed and almost laid on top of her. To quiet her whining and gibberish threats, I gently patted her head and in no time she was out.

Chuckling at her cute sleepy state, I kissed the top of her messy head and went into a peaceful slumber.

I couldn't believe this day would have come.

"Why are you two like that?"

Bua Dadi looks at us as if she can't decide whether to laugh or feel pity for us. I can't blame her.

By 'us' I mean me and ...dad sitting at the two extreme edges of the couch in the living room.

I guess we mutually agreed to try being a father-son thing. Whatever it was.

To begin something together for the first time we wordlessly decided to sit and watch T.V. In decades it didn't happen. Nobody has seen us together spending normal time together. Most of our conversations would be business-related, glaring matches, or having ugly arguments.

From the corner of my eyes, I glanced at him. With arms folded against his chest and stoic expression, he was sitting. At momentarily observance and Bua Dadi's back-and-forth amused gaze, I realized even I was mimicking his exact stature. I immediately relaxed my rigid posture.
