"I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light."

PAST

PRITHVI

"Rains are beautiful,"

I give Azar a bland look as we both entered my apartment. Drenched from top to bottom, he was shivering lightly and still got the hots for rain. Chuckling at my expression, he shakes his head, remaining water droplets sprinting directly at me.

"Are you a wet dog? Stop it, idiot!" I slap his arm making him pout.

I roll my eyes, unimpressed. "Save it for your fans. Won't work on me,"

"Don't be so harsh and I have got a complete checklist to woo my fans. For now, the target is my Prithu baby," saying in an annoying voice, he wraps his arms around me.

I almost lost my balance while removing my shoes as Azar latched on to me. Shoving him to the side, ignoring his yelp I threw the wet boots in the corner. Sighing at the trail of water from our clothes, I made a quick trip to my room and rushed back with a stack of towels, some of my spare sweatpants, and t-shirts. Smirking at Arjun being Azar's next target for his silly acts. Catching them off guard, I threw the pair of clothes and towels at them.

"That's not the way you treat your guests!" Azar exclaims as it hits his face. "By the way, where are fresh boxers? Mine are-

"I'm not sharing my undergarments with anyone." I deadpan.

"I wouldn't even dare to wear his," Arjun shudders dramatically. I flip him off.

Azar drying his mop of curls gives us a scrunched-up look. "Are you planning to go commando in front of girls? And I left my fresh pair in your closet the last time,"

As he starts to move towards my room, I raise my palm lightly shoving him back. "First I get to change. My room, my rules,"

In between, Arjun rushes to another spare room. "The guest room is mine like always!"

Leaving Azar with a gaping expression, I shrug, strolling back into my room. As I keep my clean pair of clothes on the bed, he yells from the living room.

"You two are stingy, meany, bully! Yaar why am I always left to compromise? Fine, I'm changing in the living room. Let anyone have the free strip show,"

"No one is interested!" Arjun retorts.

"Why do I get only mean people in life and still love them," Azar complains in a whiny voice.

Throwing my clothes on, I dump the wet ones in the bin and head back into the living room.

Azar was zipping up his jeans. I was grateful the girls didn't walk in on him. We planned to spend the night on the terrace of our second building college. ARMS, was co-partnered under my biological father's name. Before the beginning of our post-graduation, we wanted to celebrate clearing the entrance as it was one of the top universities.

Despite it being Arjun's adoptive father, Inder uncle's ownership- we five excelled with no recommendations. Our respective families were proud of us. For different reasons.

Life was about to get on the roll with the next phase of life. The unknown future was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking.

Tuning back into their conversation, I was arranging everyone's favorite snacks on the table. I can't let them raid my kitchen and mess up my place.

"You have a noticeable mole on your butt," Arjun randomly comments to Azar.

Instead of looking befuddled, Azar curiously asks, "When did you- Ah, wait you remembered from our swimming classes. And we practically have to strip in front of each other to be on time. The instructor was so strict with us as if we have spread the rumor that he was wearing a wig all these years." At Arjun's deadpan expression, he recollects, "Ah, we did, right!"
