INT- CAVE - NIGHT
(400,000 B.C)
[We open in a small, dark cave. A caveman is sitting with his wife and children. The youngest child's stomach rumbles. The child's father looks over at the youngest, notices a look in their eye and stands up. His wife looks over, giving a concerned look. The male caveman does not react, he just picks up his spear and leaves the cave.]
EXT- FOREST- CONT.
[We cut to the caveman running through the forest, running deeper and deeper into the forest. He is hunting a wild animal, he's gaining on it, he gets ready to throw his spear and then- A strange creature jumps from out of the bushes, knocking the caveman down. The creature scratches the man as he tries to push it off of him. There is a snap of a twig somewhere within the woods. The creature runs off, leaving the man alone, lying injured and bleeding.]
INT- CAVE- NIGHT.
[The creature skulks towards the family, it snarls. The mother turns and screams when she sees the creature. She pushes her behind her. The creature gets closer and closer and- A figure flies into the cage and smashes the creature into one side of the cave. The figure then throws the creature out of the mouth of the cave. A different figure enters the cave.]
Figure 2: It's okay now, Nothing is going to hurt you. I'm Sersi. We're here to help you.
[The other figures, The Eternals, walk into the cave and look around.]
Phastos: This cave is a nice start. Needs a bit of work, but still a nice start.
[A blue-clad steps in, covered in a strange blood-like liquid. This is Ikaris.]
Kingo: So... How did it feel to finally kill a Deviant?
Ikaris: Honestly? Amazing. One of those creatures down... a fuck-ton more to do.
Kingo: Hey, Language!
Ikaris: (surprised) What?
Sprite: You can't be serious! Language? What are we? Five?
Phastos: (annoyed) Can we please just continue talking about the problem at hand?
Sprite: Problem?
Ajak: This planet has a strange feeling to it. I just can't put my finger on it.
[A flash goes past.]
Thena: Well, I guess speedy is here.
Makkari: (sighs) This world is strange.
Gilgamesh: It's a whole new life form we need to protect.
[Sprite, a small child-looking Eternal, walks up to the children and shows them an illusion of fire. Ajak stops her.]
Ajak: They need to learn how to do this on their own.
Sprite: Then why are we here?
Voice: (offscreen) To collect energy for Arishem.
Phastos: And you would know because?
[Druig enters the cave. Dragging something from behind him.]
Druig: Well isn't it obvious? The people of this planet are useless.
Ajak: Druig?
Druig: They would never be able to fight off a Deviant like we can. They are simply lesser beings.
[The Eternals look between each other, clearly uneasy. Ikaris clenches his fists.]
Druig: I mean look at them!
[He reveals what he was holding behind his back- it's the caveman, dead.]
Sersi: Did you...
Druig: Kill him? Yes, it was very easy. Because you know what these little Earthlings are? Weak! Pathetic! We're supposed to protect the universe, but these people are destined to die.
[Ikaris looks over to Ajak, she nods. Ikaris flies into Druig, dragging him out of the cave.]
INT- SERSI'S APARTMENT- DAY
(London, 2021 A.D)
[We open on Sersi asleep. Her alarm goes off and she wakes up. She looks at her phone. 8:30am. She's late.]
Sersi: Shit!
