INT- UTAH DINER- DAY
[We see a diner, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The camera focuses on a man reading a newspaper.]
Waitress: Would you like a refill?
Man: I'd love-a refill.
[The waitress pours coffee into the man's mug, the man turns the page of the newspaper.]
Man: Huh, would you looka this? World's going straight down the shitter, I gotta tell ya.
Waitress: What's happening?
Man: That gosh darn manic has broken outta Ravencroft again. How many times does this freak 'ave to break out before they just shoot 'im down like the dog 'e is? I tell you sommit though, if I ever see the fucker, I won't hesitate to gun him down.
[A red haired man takes a loud sip of his coffee.]
Red haired man: Is that a fact, mister trooper?
Man: Most certainly is.
Red haired man: Well then, you better shoot me now.
Man: What?
Red haired man: Oh come on, killing is as easy as one, two, three...
[On three, a red spike shoots out the red haired man's chest- stabbing through the other man's head. The entire diner turns and sees the absolute horror, some of them scream, some look like they're ready to fight. The red haired man stands up, the red spike seems to turn to some sort of liquid as it spreads over the red haired man. This red liquid turns the man into some sort of monster- this abomination is Carnage.]
Carnage: Who wants some carnage?
[One man slightly laughs in the back. Three other men fearlessly walk up to the symbiote.]
Man 2: You think you can just come in here and hurt people?
Man 3: Yeah, we don't take too kindly to murderers round here.
Carnage: Oh come on guys, you know what they say; peace in our time... or should I say...
[Carnage swiftly cuts off the heads of the men.]
Carnage: Pieces!
[A kid screams, Carnage looks up and sees the child crying into the arms of their mother. Carnage smiles a wide, sinister smile.]
News Reporter: (voiceover) Infamous serial killer, Kletus Cassidy, brutally attacked innocent diner patrons this morning.
INT- MESSY HOUSE- DAY
[We see a TV screen displaying the news reporter, the camera slowly pulling out from the screen.]
News Reporter: (continuing) Cassidy, also known as the supervillain 'Carnage', recently broke out of Ravencroft. Police have been tracking Cassidy's movements throughout the country, but his attacks seem to be spontaneous and random. We have been given special permission to show a small bit of the gruesome scene that took place in the diner. We recommend that some views turn this program off, as the following images may be disturbing-
[All of a sudden, Speedball flies into the screen, smashing it.]
Speedball: Ow, Jesus Christ.
[The scene cuts to show the rest of the room. We see Speedball re-joining the fight against a rather gross-looking man. He's fighting alongside Gamecock and Leapfrog. Gamecock tries to throw a punch but the gross man dodges it. Gamecock unsheathes a knife but the gross man extends his tongue out and knocks the knife out of Gamecock's hand.]
Speedball: Man, you know that frog shit is pretty gross, right?
Leapfrog: Really?
Gamecock: I'm sure he meant no harm by it.
Speedball: Eh.
Gross Man: I'm not a frog, I'm the goddamn Toad!
Speedball: You said that like we should care.
Toad: I'm The Toad.
Gamecock: And?
Toad: I fight the X-men, I'm part of The Brotherhood...
Speedball: The Brotherhood? Is that a band or something? Are you in a band?
Toad: No, it's... How have you guys not heard of The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants?
Speedball: Are we supposed to have heard of you guys?
Toad: I worked with Magneto and Scarlet Witch and stuff.
Speedball: Bullshit, those are heroes.
Toad: Those are traitors, that's what they are!
Gamecock: And you know what this is?
