Ominis

I tried to calm the excitement in my heart before opening her letter. My first class doesn't start until an hour after breakfast, and Anne's letter was far more important to me than food at this moment.

I gathered myself, and went back to my dorm before opening up her letter.

Dearest Ominis,

Since it's your first day of school, I do hope you remembered our yearly tradition. Just because I'm not there with you in person, doesn't mean I'm not there in spirit.

How long did you get a first year to stand at the window for? Please tell me it has beaten our record of 2 hours. Though, I can't imagine it would still be entertaining after two hours.

How is Sebastian holding up? I know he's upset I couldn't return to Hogwarts, once again, but I do hope he's not spending all his time studying for a cure. I'll be writing him a letter shortly to tell him to not be such a bloody idiot this year, and to stay out of trouble.

I do hope your first day of classes goes about easy, and you don't get into too much trouble. But we are Slytherins after all, it's in our nature.

Write to me soon.

Yours,
Anne

P.S. next time you visit, could you bring my gobstones? I believe Sebastian hid them in the Undercroft.

Yours, Anne.

I knew I couldn't promise her no trouble. I'm best friends with her brother after all.

The Undercroft.

The one piece of the Gaunt name I was not ashamed of. It was a secret sanctuary inside the castle that only the three of us knew of.

Only us.

I had hidden there after peculiarly rough days during my first year, but Marvolo had still been in school then. What was even worse, was he had been the one to show it to me.

Ominis - Beginning of First Year

I sat myself near the giant window in the common room to begin on the first assignments of the school year. They were not as difficult as I imagined they'd be. I was even taught enchantments so my quill could write my thoughts as I went about school work.

Though I've known magic my entire life, it has never been so bright and full of possibilities. I've only known darkness and pain.

Speaking of darkness and pain,

My quill stopped when I felt a dark presence bestow itself behind me.

"Come brother," the evil man said with a hint of glee, "I have something to show you."

With extreme caution, I gathered myself to depart. Following the devil.

We walked the halls of the Defense Against the Dark Arts tower, before stopping at an odd clove in the corner.

"What do you sense, brother?"

I extended out my wand towards the object in front of us.

"I sense there is another space behind this clock," I focused in on my wand, "a room."
