Luci's heart was beating extremely fast and he kept taking deep breaths, trying to calm down. He got on his hands and knees and quietly followed Jeffrey through the small tunnel. They had been digging this tunnel with surprisingly sturdy ad effective metal spoons and finally it was finished. It was time to break out.
It was a tight squeeze but they both managed to pull themselves through. Luci stayed silent as they crawled, hoping Jeffrey would forget about their deal. Luci would help him dig the tunnel but not escape with him. Maybe he wouldn't notice...
"This is the stop I guess," Jeffrey said, struggling to turn and face him, and shook hands with Luci, "nice knowin' you Lucifer." He turned back around. Luci almost followed him but didn't. A deal was a deal and Luci wasn't one to go back on his word. He began backwards crawling until he heard Jeffrey yell, "hey!"
"Yeah?" Luci asked, stopping in his tracks. A crooked smile spread across Jeffrey's face and he nodded his head towards the end of the tunnel where the electric room was clearly visible, "you comin'?"
Luci didn't question but smiled a thanks. The two of them jumped down from the small ledge there was and Jeffrey unclipped his earring, or as Luci had recently found out, was a bobby pin. His inmate skillfully picked the lock as Luci started ripping out the tape from the security camera as fast as he could. Then he tore the film into many pieces and ran outside with Jeffrey. Immediately his friend started kissing the ground and silently cheering. He guestured for Luci to follow and they both snuck out of the fences, narrowly avoiding the officer's line of vision. When it was finally safe Jeffrey shook Luci's hand yet again. "Like I said, it was really great meeting you," he announced, "hope to see you again one day. Now go to your family, alright?"
"Thanks," Luci replied, "and also thank you for allowing me to come and escape with you."
"No problem," Jeffrey winked and scurried off down the sidewalk, disappearing down an alley. Luci smiled to himself and began walking. He was super nervous about what his dads would think. Would they kick him out? Disown him? What about Bobby? Luci winced at the thought of facing his twin brother. If there was anyone who could ever understand him, it was Bobby. But Luci had killed one of his friends. Betrayed him. Shut him out. Luci doubted Bobby would ever forgive him.
But he still remained hopeful.
