The second I waved goodbye to Linh, and she left, I ran upstairs. I rummaged through a bag in the corner of my room, my hand emerging with a medium sized silver rectangle. I walked over to my bed, and plopped down on it. As I sat down, the rectangle lit up. It was a gift from Sophie at midterms. She said it was a forbidden cities thing that everyone had, and she got one for everyone in the crew. I swiped up, as Sophie had shown me, and entered the four digit passcode. The glowing screen then showed multiple squares with different icons. I randomly touched on one and it brought me to a search bar and a keyboard.

"Perfect," I said to myself. I ran my fingers across all the letters, getting used to the placement of each one. After about a minute or two, I was able to type one sentence. 'Can a girl like another girl?' I pressed search. Almost instantly, tons of results showed up, and I got flashed with a big, colourful rectangle. "Jeez, what is with humans and their obsession with these rectangles and squares!" I mumbled to myself. I clicked on the magenta, white and orange rectangle, curious. Once again, it went at lighting speed. It took me to multiple paragraphs of writing. I stayed up all night looking through articles like those.

The next day, I was excited for school. First of all, I couldn't wait to see Linh and do element training with her, and second of all, I couldn't wait to tell her about my discovery! The second I got to school, I ran over to Linh. I threw my arms up, ready to hug her, but I awkwardly pulled them down when I remembered that we were in public. I was stuck in postion staring at her, a little awkwardly, and she stared back. Then we stared some more.

"What is it?!" Linh finally asked after about a minute, a bit confused and annoyed, but with that small smile staying on her face the whole time.

"Sorry!" I responded, finally snapped out of my trance. "I have so much to tell you! So last night when you left, I went upstairs and went on that thing Sophie gave us. I think she calls it a phone? Anyways, I was searching for if-" I could feel my voice starting to speed up when Linh suddenly talked over me.

"Marella Adene Redek. If you don't slow the **** down right now, I will kiss you in public and reveal you." She said, completely serious. I ignored her tone and continued, making a point to be slower this time.

"Like I was saying, I was searching for if girls could like girls," Linh froze. "And I found out that it is possible! And girls who like other girls are called lesbians! Isn't that great?" I noticed Linh wasn't responding and just standing and staring into the distance. "...Linh?" All of the sudden, Linh thumped to the ground. "LINH!" I shouted, and the rest of it was a blur. Picking her up, carrying her over to Elwin, and worst of all, the whispering in the hallways of

"Look, the mental patient's daughter likes the exillium girl!" Or, " What are they? Gay or something?" I swear, if I wasn't holding Linh, I would've gone over and punched them. As soon as I got to the healing centre, I carefully placed Linh down on the nearest empty bed. Good thing I did, as my pyrokineses was making my hands dangerously warm.

"What happened?" Elwin asked.

"I'm not sure," I say, "She just collapsed. I–I didn't know what I should have done so I brought her to the healing centre."

"Hmm. I'll be right back," Elwin said, running to his office. I squeezed Linh's hand.

"It'll be okay," I whisper, "You'll be okay." Then I plant a kiss on her forehead. "I love you."
