"I don't need to hug or hold you tight. I just want to dance with you all night."

Cody's chapter :DDDD

I shook my legs together, scratching the nail beds 'till they bled a little.

The school announced that there was a dance for the juniors and seniors, and I still didn't have a date. No, just because I'm dating Noah doesn't mean I'm going to the dance with him. It's his choice. But, I was really hoping he'd at least try and ask. Maybe I should ask him?

I pondered as I looked at the time. It was almost time for English class, meaning I was gonna see him!! I internally rejoiced as I still shook a leg. I bit the insides of my mouth as I watched the clock tick.

Hm.

RINGGGGGGG Finally! I dashed out the door faster than any legs could take as I squealed in joy. Oh me gosh oh me gosh!!!! I giggled and skipped on the way there. As I arrived, I squeezed the books and binders in my hand tight seeing his long shaggy hair from afar. I walked in and sat down by Noah, laying my stuff down.

"Hi, Noah!" I giggled. He turned to me, returning a genuine smile. "Hello, lovely." He giggles as well, putting his hand on his mouth. "So," I whistled, clamping my fingers together in a nervous manner looking around the room.

"Hm?" He drags his slouching body closer to my face, I could feel his breath on my shoulder. I cleared my throat and took a deep breath.

I tapped my thumbs together, finally making contact with Noah as he was already looking at me. "I was wondering if you could uhm- You know... Be my date to the dance?.." I huffed as I added, "I know you'll probably stay home, but this dance means a lot to me, and I'd appreciate it if we could both go..?" I say slow and hesitantly. His eyebrows moved up as he nodded and listened to the offer. "Well, I'd love to. I was wondering when you'd ask me." He says, with one corner of his mouth curling up into a smirk.

I felt so much happiness in my body that I started shaking. "Really?!" He nodded. I grabbed the sides of his sweater and pulled him into a hug.

I felt like I was a tad bit too loud because everyone around us glared with peering eyes. It was a little awkward but I dusted myself off and focused on my sketchbook. Hm... I felt like writing little silly things about love? I don't know, it's too cheesy. I tapped on my pen and looked at the rays of sunshine beaming through the white blinds.

The day of the dance arrived. Meaning, we'd have a shorter day so that the student council and the teachers could prepare the gym. Noah said that the school forced him to stay behind because he was a part of the student council. I forgot about that. He told me that he'd skip the meetings because Emma partook in the student council too.

Poor boy, I thought.

Finally arriving at my bus stop, I waited patiently for the transportation to arrive.

It wasn't long before it showed up and I paid for the fair. I told them where I needed to go and simply headed to my seat. Putting on my earphones, Happy Just To Dance With You by The Beatles played. I listened to them sometimes.

As I hummed along to the singer, George Harrison, I looked out the window, seeing what interesting scenario awaited me.

Arriving home, I put on my best formal wear. I tried to look as good as possible, so that Noah would notice. "What should I wear?" I asked my Father. I seldomly asked for his advice as we barely talked. Emalia was always his princess, you know? Until she died, of course. He tapped his thumbs as he clasped his fingers together. "I think that this would suit you," He licked his chapped lips as he held up the coat hanger. There it was, a black button-up, white vest, and a red blazer, and to match with the top, it followed black trousers.

I was in awe. It was exciting to be attending this momentous occasion. "Who'll be going with you?" Father asked outside my room as I put on my formal wear. "My friend, Noah." I smiled as I finally finished dressing. The sleeves fell down to my wrists just right and the vest wrapped around my body just right. It was perfect!
"Let's see the final look?" He commanded, knocking on my door gently.

I clicked on the door, opening it as I revealed myself to my Dad. "It suits you just right, I suppose." He smiled behind his bearded face. I beamed with happiness thinking about how that compliment meant to me.

Ding dong! I smiled as I dashed for the door to see Noah. "Hey, Cody. C'mon, let's get to the dance. Owen's driving again." He gave a little side smile as his thumb pointed at the car.

"Thanks, Dad." I smiled behind me before closing the door behind me.

We finally arrived at the dance, walking into the dark gym with flashing colored lights that could give you headaches if not seizures. I was in amazement seeing the copious amounts of food being mounted on top of each other and people scattered around the various types of drinks.

It was very interesting to see everyone dressed so fancy. Although it was the theme, it was odd. I couldn't imagine them wearing such attire.

I sat down by the darkest corner where barely anyone was. It was more desolate than the other parts of the gym. Noah joined me as we lost the crowd in the corner. "It's pretty quiet here, thankfully. The music was rupturing my eardrums." He giggles as he plants his face on his rested arms.

"At least we could be by ourselves, I guess." I say, chuckling a bit as I crossed my arms against the table. Noah looks up to have a glance of me as he grazes his hand upon mine. "You look so amazing with that suit, Cody." He turns my hands upward to get a better grasp of my fingers. I sighed and smiled. I thanked him as we turned to the crowd of people having the time of their lives. The loud drop of the bass made our hearts drop following it.

I wanted to leave, to be honest.

But before that, I wanted to have one dance. Just the two of us. I wanted to experience that adrenaline rush pumping through my bloodstream as I danced with the rhythm and him.

I held out my hand to Noah, asking if we could perhaps dance before leaving. He accepted this request as we leaped for the dance floor. The music faded from a hyper beat into a more sentimental love song. The dance floor went silent as more people slowly danced. Sweeping the floor, everyone hummed quietly with their partner.

As I danced with him, I could hear my heartbeat thump with the song.

We both pressed closely together as he tucked the hair behind my ear. "I love you so much," He then snuggled his nose upon my hair as he exhaled softly. I smiled against his shoulder.

We finally left the dance and got a whiff of that fresh air. Everyone there stinks of sweat and hot breath. I was so tired from dancing but I still had the energy to just walk home with Noah. Our fingers intertwined as we walked into the dimly lit streets. There were still a lot of people since we did live in Ontario, so at least we felt safe.

"Thanks for making that dance fun." I looked up at him, smiling so wide.

"Anything for you," He replied, putting his arm around my shoulder. Badump. Badump. I felt my heart go faster. I kind of liked that feeling.

I'd like it to stay that way.
