you tossed and turned restlessly, desperately trying to fall asleep, but every time you closed your eyes your head would replay your interactions with tsukishima— the dirty looks, the smug smile, his harsh words, all of it, slowly burning into your memory.

you winced at the thoughts of him, your face warm with embarrassment.

"asshole!" you muttered against your blankets before tossing them to the side. you sat up in your bed, rubbing your eyes gently. you wouldn't get any sleep at this rate. you needed fresh air.

you quietly slipped down the ladder, rummaging through your drawer for a hoodie. once you had that you put on some slides and quietly left the room, your footsteps soft against the carpet. finally, you stuffed your key card into your pocket before closing the door behind you.

you found your way through the semi-empty hallways then up to the deck. some people were still roaming around, filtering through the food bars, some people still in the jacuzzis.

you made your way towards the deck lounge at the back of the boat. the space was filled with lounge chairs and cabana chairs, with dimly lit lights placed around the deck.

you let out a sigh of relief as you approached the chairs, eager for some peace of mind.

but of course, as you approached on of the cabana chairs you found that the one person you didn't want to see anymore was there. at this point you were convinced that the world was playing some cruel prank. seriously, how many times had you seen this guy?

the blonde had a hoodie pulled over his head, which is why you didn't recognized him at first.

tsukishima furrowed his brows at you, pulling his headphones off in a quick push, "are you stalking me?"

you scoffed. "yeah, definitely, because out of all the things to do on this cruise seeing you is the highlight of it all."

he scoffed, somewhat amused. "the feeling is mutual," he retorted sarcastically as he shifted in his chair, clearly bothered by your company. you debated whether you should find another spot or stay here.

if you stayed here you would probably only make more problems for yourself. the reason you went out was to get some clarity, and tsukishima was anything but that. you supposed you could find another spot, but then you would be letting him win.

when you thought about it, staying was better. why leave and give him the satisfaction? you knew it was petty, and you knew that staying would be uncomfortable, though maybe that was worth it. with that, you settled into the cabana chair next to his.

the blonde rolled his eyes before pulling his headphones back over his ears, his eyes fixated on the sky. despite the growing tension, you both remained silent, trying to lose yourselves in your thoughts.

you couldn't help the way your eyes occasionally wandered over to him; you stole small glances, surprised to see how unusually calm he looked. his normally sharp features were softened by the dim lights. in that fleeting moment, you forgot who he was, your irritation slipping away.

tsukishima's eyes darted towards you, then back at the sky, the corners of his lips twitching with irritation. he fidgeted slightly, shifting in his seat a bit.

a small smile made its way to your lips at the fact that he was as uncomfortable as you were. you knew this was petty. but you couldn't help yourself. the boy had been so mean for no apparent reason, so the least you could do was make him uncomfortable with your presence.
