Desperation

This was very awkward. Yua was sitting in front of Kaname at the coffeeshop he reserved. That's right, coffeeshop. Not table, coffee shop. Yua stared at the steaming cup of hot chocolate in front of her and cleared her throat. She spun the fabricated tale of her life, and Kaname sat and listened to everything without any interruptions.

"I supposed it would be best to start off from the beginning. My earliest memories revolve around the sand. It was hot, my skin was red, and I was the only living being for miles." She reminisced.

"On my way to find shelter, I came across a traveler and his camel. He was the first and only human being I fed on. Back then, I didn't know how to control myself so I ended up tearing him apart and burying his parts in the red sand. I even took his camel to hasten my travels. You remember, don't you Kaname? How beautiful and simple the world was back then?" She sighed, eyes now staring at the mini chandelier above them. The crystals' light reflecting off her eyes. He only nodded his head. He remembered how she made it a habit to name any and all animals she looked after 'Doris'. He was starting to get worried that she would even name her future child that too.

"During my travels I made many friends, but I outlived them all. That's why I never stayed in one spot for too long. I met new people and faced the same heartache over and over again. It was tiring, but in a sick twisted way, it was also not. I was never alone; everyone loved me and I loved everyone.

I kept going, saw new sights, tried new things. It was incredible. Until I figured out what I was. The signs were all there : bloodlust, never ending youth, inhuman beauty. I became a monster. Just like the ones my father told me when I was small. I lived several lifetimes and during those lifetimes, I tried every possible way to die but nothing worked. I gave up on dying and focused on helping those around me. I saved several lives Kaname. I taught several people.
Until they all died too.

So I left and continued my journey until I found you. I found someone who was able to stay with me forever. I didn't have to distance myself and wait for your death because you were like me. Eternal." Yua's eyes were a shade darker but Kaname didn't notice because he was too busy trying to settle his racing heart down. Did he really make such a big impact on Yua's life? He felt so special.

Kaname then furrowed his brows. "Then why didn't you come to me? All these years...you didn't even come to check up on me." He accused. Yua stiffened. 'Okay and?' She wanted to say. 'My life doesn't revolve solely around you.'

She looked up at her old friend and smiled. "I raised a child Kaname. She was the sweetest little thing. Until she had to go and leave me too." Yua, purposefully wording her words to sound suggestive, stared off into the distance. From the corner of her eye she saw Kaname stiffen and his eyes widen. Yua smirked. "I'm sure you would've loved her as much as she would've loved you."

"A child?" He whispered.

"Yes, a beautiful little human girl."

"Human?"

"Oh, silly me, she wasn't mine. She was an adopted child of some sorts." She clarified. "Yes, of course." He nodded.

Yua pretended to check the time. "Would you look at that? It's getting late, I'll head on to visit Yuki one more time before heading off." She got up from the chair, dusted her skirt, and turned to leave. Kaname gently but firmly grabbed her wrist.

"Why don't we go together?"

He just got her back. He wasn't willing to let go of her so soon either.
