The Eclipse (Chapter 4)

It was April 8th, the day of the eclipse, and when Nancy woke up she couldn't shake the feeling of something terrible happening and she knew what it was.

She was thinking of the chemical weapon or bomb that the Red Dragons were building. She wonder if it would be set off today due to the amount of people that came to the city for the eclipse.

Nancy took a glimpse at her phone and saw that Emma texted her.

"When can I come over?" -Emma

"Probably like 2hrs" -Nancy

"Alr I'll text you when I'm omw" -Emma

Nancy put her phone down and started to get ready. She took a shower, curled her hair then, put on a black hoodie and black sweatpants and put on some light make up.

She went downstairs for breakfast and greeted her mom who was making pancakes and bacon.

"Morning Mom" said Nancy as she opened the fridge to grab milk.

"Good Morning, Nancy" said Nancy's mom

"When is Emma coming"

"She's coming at 1" said Nancy getting two pancakes and two pieces of bacon

"Alright then, I'm going to Walmart. Do you want anything?" Said Nancy's mom

"No, I'm good" said Nancy

"Okay, I'll be back by 12:30" said Nancy's mom

After her mom left Nancy had nothing to do so she went on patrol earlier than usual just in case they were getting the weapon ready.

She looked through the abandoned warehouses and found nothing so she decided to go to Emma's house to see if she was safe. There were no extra cars and she saw Emma's mom watering plants in their front yard.

Nancy went around the back and didn't see anything suspicious either so she went back into the city hoping that the Red Dragons had given up on the weapon and moved on to something else.

She was unsuccessful in finding any Red Dragons either so she went back home. She still had half an hour till her mom got back so she started to clean an reorganize her room.

When her mom got back she helped with the groceries and went to clean the car. When she was done she got a text from Emma.

"I'm here" - Emma

"Alr" - Nancy

"Hey" said Emma who was just walking into the driveway.

"Hey" said Nancy closing the car door

"So where we watching it" said Emma

"The backyard" said Nancy casually pointing towards it.

2 hours passed and it was time for the eclipse to happen. Then, it happened. Everything went dark like it was supposed to and Nancy, her Mom and Emma were all watching with glasses but suddenly they a green gas in the sky.

"What's that?" Said Emma

"I don't know" Said Nancy's Mom

"I think we should go inside" said Nancy

"Yeah, that's a good idea" said Emma

So they went back inside and started to close all of the windows. Then it started to rain and, due to the gas in the atmosphere, the rain was infected with whatever was in the gas and when Emma closed one of the windows some of the rain got on her so she went to the bathroom to wash her hands.

Soon, they turned on the news and saw what was happening to the people in the streets. Some of them were turning into hideous monsters while others were gaining superpowers like flight and super strength.

Nancy watched and wondered if she gained more enemies or more allies. Emma saw what was happening to the people and wondered if it would happen to her.

Then Emma thought to herself
"It only took one drop to turn the people. So why hasn't it happened to me yet.?"

"Emma, you ok" said Nancy seeing that Emma was in shock

"Yeah, yeah I'm good" said Emma snapping out of it.

Nancy wondered how she would protect the city now that there were at least over a hundred people who now had powers or abilities of some sort.

Then Nancy wonder wondered if it was the bomb that the Red Dragon's were building.

Then, there was a knock at the door.

"Who would be out here during all this?" Said Emma

"I don't know" Said Nancy getting ready to go open the door.
