Gone

Childhood's chapter closes, dusk to dawn,
A tapestry of memories, sweetly drawn.
Once a realm of endless play and mirth,
Now gives way to the truths of earth.

Gone the days of innocence and wonder,
Replaced by life's reality, to ponder.
Toys and tales, now relics of the past,
As adulthood's shadow is finally cast.

Bicycles and swings, left in the yard,
As life's responsibilities press hard.
Laughter echoes, a distant sound,
In the heart's corners, where dreams are found.

Yet, with this end, new beginnings call,
Strength and wisdom gained from it all.
Childhood's lessons, a guiding light,
Leading onward, through day and night.

So here's to the child that once did roam,
In the fields of youth, where imagination roamed.
Farewell to the chapter, with a tender sigh,
For now, the grown-up wings must fly.
