Chapter Thirty-Four

Saph couldn't believed it. She wished that her eyes were just fooling her or that she was just dreaming. And if it's a dream then it's probably a nightmare coz this one is giving her an indescribable terror.

Ayaw niyang paniwalaan ang nasa isip niya ngunit dahil sa nakikita niya na nasa kamay nito ay naroon na ang kasagutan sa matagal nang tanong ng lahat. Ang taong ito ang hinahanap nila at ang siyang dahilan ng mga nangyayari sa kanyang sarili. At dahil nga sa may hawak itong kakaibang remote ay napagtanto na talaga niya na ito na mismo ang siyang kumokontrol sa chip na nasa utak niya.

Her mouth couldn't speak at all. She's terrified to learn that it isn't a dream, that it's more real than she could ever imagine. She even closed her eyes and waited for herself to wake up from the nightmare- hoping that it wasn't true.

No! This isn't real. It's impossible! He's not the one!

But when she heard a low chuckle, it crushed her hope.

"Come on, I know you know that you're not dreaming here. This is real. I am real." Wika ng taong nasa harap niya.

Lux is slowly opening her eyes but her gaze is fixed on the ground.

"Look at me." Utos nito sa kanya na hindi niya sinunod. "I said look at me!" Ulit nito nang may diin.

She then raised her head and looked straight in front of her.

"See, I'm real, right? You're not dreaming." And smiled at her tenderly. "Did you miss me, Xury?"

She felt a prick in her heart when she heard him say that. Nate has always been someone who has a special place in her heart and learning the truth just now, an overwhelming sense of betrayal filled her.

"Nate, why am I here? How did I get here with you? What happened? The last thing I recalled I was in Atlanta. How was I able to travel here?" Sunod-sunod niyang tanong.

She refuses to acknowledge the possibility that the man in front of her is an enemy. And she acted as if she didn't have any slight idea about what was going on and who he really was.

"You drove on your own." Sagot nito habang nakangiti.

"Why are we here?" Muli niyang tanong habang iniikot ang mga mata sa buong paligid. Nasa loob sila mismo ng arena at naghahanap siya kung mayroon pang ibang tao roon bukod sa kanilang dalawa.

"It's only the two of us who are here and no one else." Sabi ni Nate nang mapansin siguro ang paglinga-linga niya. "And you're here so we can be together now."

Nang naglakad papalapit kay Saph ang binata ay napaatras naman siya nang dahan dahan.

"You don't need to be afraid of me, Xury. You know I would never hurt you." Nang malapitan na siya nito nang tuluyan ay sinipat nito ang kabuuan niya. "Hmmm, you've been hit." Sabay haplos sa braso niya.

Saka lamang niya napansin na may daplis siya ng baril sa kaliwang braso at dumudugo iyon. Wala siyang nararamdaman na sakit mula sa sugat na natamo.

"Nate, tell me what happened. Whose blood is this on my hands?" She asked while looking at the blood stain all over her. "I'm sure that this isn't mine alone."

Obvious kasi na hindi iyon mula sakanya lamang dahil kahit sa kanyang suot ay may bahid ng talsik ng dugo at kahit hindi siya tumingin sa salamin ay ramdam niya na mayroon din sa kanyang mukha. She can smell the rusty, stale scent of blood all over her.
