Chapter 07 - "the mission pt1"

I don't know why but every night there's some strange energy that roams mystic falls. Each night we all can feel it, yet no one can pinpoint where exactly it was. It was all over the town, even though there was only one presence or was there?

It's been 5 days since we've come to mystic falls. In these 5 days we still couldn't understand what was happening in this town. Everything was strange that was happening here.

On the sixth night here, me and kaito were patrolling around the woods just in case. We stopped across the waterfall and decided to rest here for a bit since we've been patrolling around for almost hours.

We sat next to each other on the grass the soothing scent of the moss and the damp earth, trees around looked quite old and the fireflies around the waterfall felt even more magical. The place was the most beautiful place in the whole town. It felt like a place from a fairytale.

We sat down and stayed quiet for a while, kaito looked towards me and broke the silence by saying "do you remember Aria?"

"Yes I've met her a few times at the palace, why do you ask?"
I asked him while he looked up at the sky and he looked like he was thinking about something.

"Kaito?" I call out his name and he looks towards me, he puts his hand behind his head.

"Sorry I was just thinking about the days where we all used to be on missions together. Me, you, Aria, Suwa, Ishikawa, Hirano and Yoshida. We all used to be on missions, hanging out together used to be fun. Now everyone's separated some even quit being knights. And did you know that Yoshida has a kid already."

"Wait seriously?" I ask, surprised.

We were sitting and talking about the silly things we used to do when we were teenagers but suddenly we heard a horrified scream from a distance, I recognized that voice to be Yukiko's voice. Worried, we both ran to her location she was somewhere in the forest as well. When we reached there we found her on the ground staring at something with a horrified look. I looked up to see what she was staring at and there was nothing there.
As kaito scanned the area for any traces of what she could've possibly seen, I looked after Yukiko, she kept trembling non stop and when I asked what she saw or even tried to describe what she had seen, she refused. When I looked closely at her to check for any wounds I saw that her ears were bleeding.

If that 'thing' was this horrifying and dangerous then we needed to stay alert no matter what. We took Yukiko back to the town and the healer there treated her wounds that I didn't find when I looked for any wounds around her... strange.
I had forbidden anyone from asking her any questions until she had calmed down. But what was even more strange was that when the village healers looked at her for more wounds they found a huge bruise on her back which looked like a pattern and it was definitely not a coincidence.

Until I figured out what it was I asked kanae to keep an eye on her and observe any change in her or anything and report to me immediately.

For a three days everything was normal with her and the presence of the 'thing' was not felt or even a liittle at all it was like it just left. But on the 10th day here Yukiko's body started to act weirdly.
Her wounds were nowhere to even heal and it felt like it was growing into another pattern it seemed like an eye over another eye but the other eye was vertical. It was definitely a symbol of something and what was happening to her was not normal at all. Her skin had turned pale and random bruises would appear from nowhere on her skin, she was running out of energy and she started to look dreadful. It was like something was sucking the life out of her and we needed to find what the hell was going on with her before it was too late.
