The evening sky hung heavy with the weight of impending dusk as Goten stepped outside, hoping to escape the suffocating atmosphere of the family drama brewing inside. The air was cool against his skin, offering a temporary reprieve from the tension that seemed to coil around every corner of his home.

He wished he could take the prophesy and throw it over the cliff he and his father usually hung out at when the sun set. And maybe even toss his problematic reputation along with it.

Why does growing up have to be so complicated? He asked himself, but he knew he needed to go through this. He knew that he needed to man up at some point. He just needed to look at the issue from a different perspective.

As he leaned against the edge of the cliff, his thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching. Turning, he saw Trunks emerge from the shadows, his expression a mix of concern and "understanding". It felt like pure pity if Goten had to be honest with himself.

"Hey," Trunks said softly, joining Goten at the edge. "Mind if I join you?"

Goten shook his head, offering a small smile. "Not at all. I could use the company."

They stood in companionable silence for a moment, both lost in their own thoughts. Then, Trunks spoke up. "You scared?"

"Pfft, me? Scared? Did you forget who your talking to?" Goten shook his head with a smile on his face.

"I wouldn't blame you if you were. Beerus has a lot of power, so having a guy like that, at your neck, can be pretty terrifying." Goten had to roll his eyes.

"I'm fine, Trunks, thank you for your concern," Goten's sarcasm was clear as day, "and in case you forgot, you're also a suspect."

"Sure..." It was Trunks turn to roll his eyes. They both kept quiet for a while.

"Goten, I love Mai."

"And I," Goten hesitated. He hesitated! Then sighed and pinched the arch of his nose, "I'm not thinking straight right now."

"Clearly...you know she's pretty though." Goten was struck by the unexpected comment. Where was Trunks going with this?

"Who, Valese."

"Don't act dumb, you know who I'm talking about." Well now he did.

"Are you secretly trying to get me killed or something."

"Ha, I'm pretty sure I'd be more discreet if I was. Anyways, I'm just letting you know, I think it's cool. A kid with more power then the forces that run the universe."

"Someone like that could bring great devastation..."

"Not if his family and friends can help it."

"Trunks, you're not helping."

"You're, not listening. Fighting something that is meant to be is pointless. We don't even know who this is about so stressing about this isn't going to get you anywhere. Focus on the moment, bro, and what you need to do now."

"Oh. Why didn't you just say that?...Ring ring." Goten and Trunks both looked at the caller ID. 👑VALESE❤.

"I wanted to see something for myself. Guess that's my que to head back." Trunks left Goten outside.

"Hey, Vee."

"Goten! I heard you got suspended. What happened?"

"I just punched a bunch of bullies. They fell through a window. No big deal."

"What if their parents sue you?" Goten couldn't help but laugh.

"And risk me punching them through windows? I doubt it."

"Babe, this isn't funny. I'm worried about you." Valese's voice softening made Goten feel his heart melt.

"You don't need to worry about me. I promise you I'm fine."

"I love you." Goten smiled.

"I love you too, Valese."
