Liv POV

"We're back mamma!" I announced as both Mia and I walked through the door.

Both Liz and Leah went home just a few minutes ago. Luckily we were able to convince Mia to just stay at my place. Though we had to promise her that we'd go check on her mom first thing tomorrow.

"Ti sei perso la cena, i tuoi piatti sono nel microonde," mom said from her seat at the dinner table.

you missed dinner your plates are in the microwave

I nodded walking to the kitchen with Mia trailing behind me. Mom was used to Mia staying over especially since she knew about her home life. She also always made sure to prepare two sets of dinners even if she didn't have confirmation that Mia would be over.

"Buona notte," Mia quietly greeted my mom as we passed her.

Good night

I took out our plates and handed one to Mia before taking two spoons and giving her one. "Juice?" I asked already opening the fridge.

"Just water."

I hummed and took out two bottles of water before going to the table where mom was still reading her newspaper.

I sat beside my mom on the small four persons dining table and Mia sat beside me facing mom.

Our apartment was just like everyone else's own in the building. Small, two bedroom, one bathroom and a small kitchen connected to the living room with a counter separating the two. It was small but it was just the three of us so we made it worked.

"Tomorrow we're going to go skating around the city," Mia started conversation.

Mom hummed looking up from her newspaper, "non andare troppo lontano. wisbereo è il più lontano possibile." Her eyes moved from Mia to me showing that she was talking to both of us.

Don't go too far. Wisbereo is as far as you can go

I frowned, "That's just like four blocks though."

She shrugged looking back down to her newspaper, "A casa non potevamo nemmeno abitarla"

back home we couldnt even live the house

I sighed and opted not to answer her. Knowing her she'd just go on a rant about how privileged I was to not be raised in the small village she was raised in. The amount of time I've heard that one rant I'm sure I can recite it word for word.

After dinner I went to shower and Mia stayed back with my mom so she could help her with her Italian.

When Mia and I first started hanging out she only knew Spanish. Her parents had just moved here and none of them knew a drop of English. Both Leah and I helped her with her English and now that she's spending a lot of time at my house where Italian was mostly spoken she decided it would be best to learn it.

I took a quick shower allowing the grossness of my day to be washed off. I'm surprised mom didn't bring up the fact that we smelt of cigarettes.

I wrapped the towel around my body and walked to my small cute room. I flicked the light on illuminating my small interior. The band posters and vinyl immediately took my attention as it did the first time I posted it.

I hummed and tried my best not to step on the air mattress beside my bed to get to my dress

I hummed and tried my best not to step on the air mattress beside my bed to get to my dress. At first Mia and I use to sleep on the same bed but fuck does that girl sleep as if she's dreaming about becoming a mma fighter.

I shove the memory of Mia waking me up by kicking me in the butt away so I could get dressed. I picked the first two clothes and a socks before getting dressed.

Okay enough.

As soon as I touched my guitar my mom yelled, "non toccare nemmeno la chitarra se non hai finito i compiti!"

don't even touch the guitar if you haven't finished your homework

"ITS FINISHED MAMMA!" I rolled my eyes picking up the guitar.

It wasn't finished but I gave my book to Liz so it's as good as done.

I sat on my bed and started strumming the guitar. Halfway through my phone dinged catching my attention.

Most of the messages were from the group chat but the most recent one was from Liz. I immediately tapped it. A picture of her showed.

I smiled examining the picture

I smiled examining the picture. Every night we sent a picture of ourselves to each other. I'm not sure when the tradition started but it's been going for the past year.

I adjusted my phone against my wall before taking one to send back.

Liz- write me a song

Liz- write me a song

Everything around me froze. Write me a song. Four simple words yes but fuck. I've never written a song about anyone before. Sure I've written them based on characteristics of people but there was usually a clear boundary I dared not to cross.

Writing about someone felt very personal. You're expressing your feelings and how you viewed them.

Me- maybe

As soon as I pressed send Mia walked in. I looked to her realizing she was already showered. I frowned, "How the fuck did you already shower?"

She shrugged and basically flung herself unto my bed, "Dunno. Want to watch a movie?"

I shook my head and placed down my phone, "No I need to finished this."

She nodded and turned over using her phone.
