Veronica's POV
As I stood amidst the sombre crowd at the funeral, my eyes scanned over the guests gathered to pay their respects. I observed the varying expressions etched on their faces - some wore masks of sorrow, others displayed stoic composure, and a few showed traces of genuine grief.
My gaze lingered on some of Ricardo's friends seated in the first front rows, noting the mix of emotions evident in their tear-stained faces and clenched jaws. I noticed the subtle gestures of support exchanged between friends and acquaintances, recognising the shared sense of loss that permeated the air. Although they all know about the Mafia, and the risks.
The sombre atmosphere is palpable as Uncle Diego and Miguel, donning their elegant black attire, sit together. There was an air of solemnity in the room, as Marcus and Noah, sitting nearby, appeared lost in their own thoughts, adding to the general atmosphere of solemnity.
As I stand in front of the seated guests, my heart heavy with emotion, I take a deep breath to steady myself. The weight of the moment hangs heavily in the air as I gather my composure to address the sombre gathering. The room is filled with a palpable sense of grief and reverence, amplified by the presence of the closed casket beside me.
The room goes silent as The funeral officiant clears his throat. Everyone's eyes are locked at the front, waiting to see what he will say next. I take a deep breath and he begins to speak. "In this solemn moment of remembrance and reflection, we gather here today to honour the life and legacy of Ricardo Arrow. As we come together to celebrate his journey on this earth, we are reminded of the profound impact he had on each of our lives."
He takes a step back and nods at me, waiting for me to speak. I take a shaky breath and step forward, causing everyone to peer their gaze at me, "Mr Arrow, was a," I clear my throat, stopping the tears to fall, "A great friend. Greater than most of us could ever hope to be." My eyes scan across the rows, staring at all of the guests, some crying, some smiling sadly.
I sigh, "But he knew the risks. As do we all. Ricardo's unwavering loyalty not only brought honour to the family business, but it also created a sense of unity and trust among the members. His dedication and commitment served as a reminder of the values we hold dear, inspiring others to follow his lead and solidify our bonds as a family."
I smile sadly at everyone, "Antonio will always be remembered by friends, loved ones, and his legacy." I turn to the funeral officiant and nod at him.
He gives me a sweet smile and takes my place, I walk past him and make my way to Uncle Diego and Miguel and sit next to them quietly.
They both remain silent but smile warmly at me. When everyone was arriving I got out of the car with Marcus and Noah, but I was surprised to see Uncle Diego and Miguel also there.
